Customers get off your phone lol (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Routine_Support_7458
I love being on POS but I hate when people are on their phone and not paying attention at all. Yesterday I was on POS for nearly 4 hours after my lunch. It wasn’t until 2 hours in my ASM told me to make sure Im ringing up the orders right since they had to remake so many drinks.

Every time I ask, “is that all for today”, customer says yes, I get ready to take payment and they began ordering something else.

Or

Every time I say, “Anything else for today?”, they say yes, and I wait until they’re ready to order more and they trying to pay with apple pay lol

YOU GUYS GET ME RIGHT?

I always ask, “are we doing hot or ice today?” after they just move on without even giving me the size. It makes me look bad when I’m just trying to do my job

ALSO WITH DRIVE THRU
I know what I’m hearing so every time a customer comes up and says “I order only 1” or “I ordered 3 of these” like no you didn’t.

at our store, part of the problem is that maybe half of us say “Is that all for you today?” and the other half of us say “Anything else for you today?” so some customers go on autopilot and respond “yes” when they mean “no” or vice versa, but I definitely relate to the *are you done ordering or not*

especially when they just stare at their phone and don’t tell you if they’re using Apple pay or the app! and if you take a guess and hit a button, you’re gonna guess wrong lol

What phase do you think works the best for customers? I use “anything else” and my manager finds “it that all” mean

personally, I also use “Anything else?” because my SM had a phase where they were really emphasizing *suggestively selling* and also it does seem a little more polite than “Is that all” just imo.

that said, not to be dismissive because your question is totally valid and i’d love to hear what other people think too, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference as far as customers are concerned. (except for the one karen who went off on my green bean for asking “Is that all” because apparently she used to work customers service so *she gets it (???) but that was so incredibly rude*, but that’s just one case.) even if you could make sure everyone at your store used the same phrase, the customers who aren’t listening to you still aren’t gonna listen to you 😔
