Does anyone know where to find the official policy on waiting for an opening supervisor?(self.starbucksbaristas)

If the opening ssv doesn't show up/is late, how long are the baristas obligated to wait? Does anyone know where to find the official policy?

As long as it takes for one to show up, then write your shift in the DRB for the original start time so you're paid for the full shift

Yeah I’ve been told to call your sm and if there’s no shift they’ll come open

Because I’m an opener and I walk to my store (where I live is extremely cold from October-April) and if they don’t show up within 30 mins without telling me they’re gonna be late I’m going home till I hear people are there.

I’d say to wait until you hear otherwise if safe to do so. If you can wait outside the store, do that until you the supervisor shows up or you get a hold of your SM. Also call the SM or DM if the shift doesn’t arrive within half an hour I’d say. I mean, even if it’s early, you should be able to get a hold of someone pretty fast.
However, if it’s dark, spooky, inclement weather, ect, and you can’t just wait outside the store. I’d for sure say to contact whoever you can once you get somewhere safe. And to remain ready to work until either the end of your scheduled shift (make sure to write it in the DRB at next opportunity), or until you do hear from someone. You shouldn’t run off to a movie, you’ll still be paid for this time, so stay by the phone, sober, and waiting to hear back until you do. Watch tv, chill out, order takeout

I wait 15 minutes and leave. I’m from a unionized store though.

I once waited 2.5 hours outside of my store waiting for a shift to come open up. No one answered my calls or texts. Thankfully it was spring and decent weather but had it been cold that would have been extremely unfair to expect the barista to wait that long.

My store is in an area where you basically have to drive to get there so I was more referring to if you were able to just hang out in a car or somewheres warm. Thank you for bringing up that point!
