It’s against health codes in most states to do so. Union or no union that doesn’t change

How is it legal to dehydrate workers tho 🥲
bailter_space16 points8m ago
Contamination policies. You aren't being "forcefully dehydrated" because you have to keep personal items in the back room.

It is forced if we’re not allowed to go to the backroom other than on our 10’s, which I already mentioned in other replies

Uhhh, go to the back and take a sip? As long as you arent doing it every 3 min and taking ur sweet time during a peak, im sure no one is gonna say anything to u lol

Is it really so hard to step off the floor, walk in to the back and get a sip of water for like, two seconds? What even is this post lmao

My managers do not let us , they tell us to wait for our 10’s. So yes, it really is that hard to get water.

Do it anyways. If a manager at starbucks is telling you to stay in position and not drink water for about 30 seconds three things are happening. 1. Partners are taking advantage and are staying out back too long and either socializing or doing more than grabbing a couple sips of water. 2. Your manager/s are so bad at being empathetic communicators that they have to micro manage to the point of partners coming online to ask about having a drink of water. Or 3, both. Either way, go out back for a second to grab a swig of water. If you are dragging ass try to make it fast, if you are still getting chewed out tell them to kick rocks and you will call the DM or Human Resources if you continue being chastised like a child for doing a very basic human necessity.
Do they stop you from going and taking a piss too?

run to the back to take a drink or grab a short cup and fill it w water to take like a shot in the back
mangotangoafterdark7 points8m ago
it’s a health hazard to keep it out. do shots of water and throw the cup away immediately after

I’ve been told that I can’t be seen drinking it at all, with the implication that the issue is customers seeing us doing it

You can… go get a drink? You just can’t have drinks on the floor for food safety reasons. I know it’s inconvenient but it’s not something that’s a matter of internal policy or management preference, it’s about health. If your managers aren’t letting you go take a sip of water when you need it and you have a moment, THAT’S where the bad management is.
