I’m a senior in highschool, and lately I’ve been closing 2 or so days a week. Before, I was closing 4-5 days a week. I’ve been tossing the idea around in my head of doing a school sport during spring time, but I don’t want to quit my job or stop working. I don’t actually go to physical school, so my availability would be completely open save for evenings due to practice, but I would have Sunday evening open. This means I could work morning shifts practically until 2pm. Is it likely my manager would let me adjust my availability so drastically for a single season? Think 2-3 months, if that.
For context, I work a smaller (but high performing) cafe store, and the sport would begin after the holidays, theoretically when we’re slower. Is it likely or even worth having a conversation with my manager about the idea? I don’t want to embarrass myself by suggesting something silly.
