this is just a venti rant/vent, not looking for advice
at our holiday store meeting, my ASM gave a whole speech about the proper call-out procedure and told us that we’re always responsible for finding our own coverage. someone raised their hand and asked about when we’re sick, and he said “when you’re sick it’s not your responsibility to find coverage but it’s helpful if you do.”
anyway, last night me and my husband both started feeling really sick and both ran fevers. I called the store to let them know I wouldn’t be in for my shift [today] and texted my ASM to let him know (he’s the one who schedules and finds coverage).
he then says “sorry to hear that” and gives me a list of names to text and ask if they can cover me. Even though I’m exhausted I do it, I texted seven people and no one could cover.
This morning, three mins before my scheduled shift started, ASM texts me: “so did you find coverage?” I said “no I’m sorry, I reached out to people but no one wanted to cover.” Then he starts grilling me about who I texted and what they replied with. I don’t understand why he asked me when he knows no one picked up the shift on marketplace?
I’m just upset and frustrated because i’ve NEVER called out before, and I wouldn’t have if I didn’t need the rest. I also would have failed the covid check in. I’m irritated that he grilled me about who I messaged and insinuated I didn’t do enough.
No “i hope you feel better,” no “get some rest,” just “so did you get it covered? why not?” I just feel like my health and well-being has been disrespected in lieu of running a perfect holiday launch
edit: one trip to patient first later, it’s the flu!
