How to make an Iced London Fog? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by flutetoottooter
I’ve gotten conflicting answers on how to make this. I’ve been told you have that it is ok to use iced black tea, but others have said that’s not allowed and that you have to steep a tea bag for 5 minutes.

You have to steep for 5 minutes. London Fog is made with earl grey, the iced black tea is royal english breakfast blend.
Technically you're supposed to steep english breakfast bags when someone orders an iced latte with english breakfast tea, but no one really does.

Thank you! I’ve been told it’s the same blend of tea, but also when told that I had to steep it there was never the explanation that they were different t

Welcome. Our green ice tea is also the same blend as jade citrus. My store figured the iced and hot teas were the same a few years ago when I lady came and asked for an iced English breakfast and I told her it would take 5 minutes cause I had to steep the tea. She threw a giant ass fit about how other stores have it ready in under a minute and left to go somewhere else. We checked the ingredients list and they're the exact same. We use to have a hot passion tea, when we first got Tevena teas, so it makes sense.

Okay I’ve always thought the green tea tasted minty

When my store ran out of earl grey, there was one barista who would use English breakfast tea instead without even asking because “they’re the same since they’re both black tea” if they were the same, then they wouldn’t have two different names and two different ingredients lists 🙄

And people either love or hate earl grey and regardless which they are, they're going to absolutely notice if there's been a substitute. Someone accidentally grabbed one of each the other day for an English breakfast tea and the lady was horrified with what she received. I apologized and was like the bags look exactly the same. She was like that's really dumb. Yep, been saying that for years.

i am an avid tea drinker, much more so than coffee. english breakfast is my favorite, and i also love london fogs. they are *not the same at
all,* and the iced black tea is not the same either. they are all black teas, but they are not the same blend. the earl gray has bergamot and lavender in it. i can definitely tell the difference between the three, i’d be pretty peeved if i ordered a london fog or english breakfast and just got black tea with vanilla/lcs and milk

Way I remember is “earl grey lives in London and likes vanilla” so. Steep ur earl gray for 5 mins, ad to cold cup w vanilla, add milk, then ice, and shake

Steep earl grey in a short cup for 4 minutes (1 for tall 2 for grande/venti), add latte pumps of vanilla into a tea shaker, add earl grey to base like, milk to the water line and then ice and shake.

You’re not allowed to use black tea at all lol… a London fog is earl gray tea and milk. You have to do the 5 minutes. I always tell the customer how long it takes so they don’t get mad.

Hot take: add raspberry to it…enhanced the fruity loop flavor! You add the half amount of whatever size you order; ex. Venti: 3 pumps raspberry, tall:1/1.5 raspberry

First thing: Use the recipe cards on the IPad whenever you don't know how to make a drink.

Second thing: You steep the tea bag in hot water for 5 minutes. Add it to your shaker to the base line. Regular steps of milk, pumps, then ice. Shake. Finish.

Yes steep the tea for 5 minutes and then transfer to cold cup and build the rest like normal .. but sometimes I like to suggest getting an iced black tea, no water, sub 2% no liquid cane but add classic syrup and vanilla & it tastes similar but you don’t have to wait 5 + minutes

don’t use black tea bc that’s not the same as earl grey.
