What is the correct way to store the bar spoon? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by thebestdaysofmyflerm
I don’t remember it ever coming up in training, but where are we supposed to put the bar spoon when we aren’t using it? I’ve been leaving it on the grate above the little bar sink, but I’m not sure if that’s sanitary.

I think you can tuck it behind your ear like a pencil.
StaaannnM_97 12 points 8m ago
😂😂😭😭Hahha oooh I laughed out loud, really hard
franglaisedbeignet 6 points 8m ago
You are too kind. I enjoy making people laugh so thank you. In all seriousness we put our bar spoon in a clean steaming pitcher.
StaaannnM_97 1 points 7m ago
Keep ‘em coming
new_direction_ 134 points 8m ago
Our store stores them in a clean steaming pitcher and changes them and the pitcher with small wares. They shouldn’t be touching the counter or have any cross contact with it, so this is the easiest way.
diphenhydranautical 23 points 8m ago
that’s what we do, i also rinse it every time i use it, i feel like it’s common sense but i don’t see other partners do it :/
miniinovaa 3 points 8m ago
im sorry EW? i treat it just like a steaming wand, cuz hello common sense lol

obviously not referring to you haha

There should be a magnet on the espresso machine you can attach it to once you've rinsed it. EDIT: WHY ARE YALL DOWN VOTING ME I LITERALLY JUST WORK HERE 😭
Vistril69 18 points 8m ago
you what
thebestdaysofmyflerm [OP] 15 points 8m ago
Lol what, where? No one has once mentioned that in my eight months of working at Starbucks.
horriblyIndecisive 9 points 8m ago
No you are right but this is technically not correct. Its unsanitary being a magnet and all and on the side of the mastrena. (ECOShare? QASA? Said so!)
elizabeth_horn 8 points 8m ago
wait. THERES A MAGNET. please tell me we are talking about the mastrena 2s. I have to know more about this magnet and why I wasnt informed YEARS AGO!
MarieCrepes 6 points 8m ago
Well at my old store we had the Mastrena II's and the magnet, at my current store we have the Mastrena I's and the magnet so I don't think it matters what version
elizabeth_horn 4 points 8m ago
Where is the magnet?
MarieCrepes 4 points 8m ago
At both the stores I worked at its on the right side
Vegan_Sweetie 1 points 8m ago
Noe ai have to look for this mysterious magnet lol
xylasphone 3 points 8m ago
at my store we have the m1’s, and we just use like a normal everyday magnet. stick it the side and then stick the spoon on the magnet lol.
MarieCrepes 5 points 8m ago
What? Is this weird? I've been a partner at multiple locations and every store I've worked at has been like this. We're talking about the large round spoon for scooping foam and whatnot, correct?
cats_with_tentacles 7 points 8m ago
Its so smart lol I'm going to mention it to my SM
Fantastic1357 4 points 8m ago
Maybe ur store ordered this magnet?
Pepsitacos 3 points 8m ago
this is what my store does idk why people are being all weird
aee78 40 points 8m ago
We have a metal canisters that has a plastic insert that has holes so the spoons don't sit in liquid.
awesomechief989 10 points 8m ago
I. Wanna. See
aee78 7 points 8m ago
I don't work for a couple of days, but it basically looks like this
$1
with a grey one of these.

Funny. I’ve rarely seen that thing but never with that thing inside of it
aee78 17 points 8m ago
If your store is like mine, someone probably tossed it cause they didn't know what it was. They'll leave a piece of trash sitting on a counter for 2 weeks, but something equipment like, why is that taking up space??? Must get rid of ASAP.
hlfblind 35 points 8m ago
we have a magnet on our espresso machines and just thunk it right on there 😭😭😭
Vegan_Sweetie 11 points 8m ago
That seems like the easiest answer I’ve seen so far. Lol
goblinvodka 21 points 8m ago
We stick it to a magnet on the side of the mastrena
rusted17 18 points 8m ago
We have a metal container w holes and change w the small wares every 4 hours. Rinse each spoon after use
olliesbees 8 points 8m ago
we have the new bars and we put it on the top of the screen 👀
violaaesthetic 3 points 8m ago
The same “screen” you put cups on after you handle them and put them on the counter?
olliesbees 8 points 8m ago
nono the bar display for shots, where the hoppers are on the top but it’s resting on the silicone
violaaesthetic 13 points 8m ago
Oooooh! Wild. Somehow I find that even more gross
xylasphone 7 points 8m ago
we just use a magnet on the side of the bar at my store
Torirock10 4 points 8m ago
i put it in a steamer pitcher cuz we usually have 3
skylikeslemonade 3 points 8m ago
sometimes it goes in a steamer pitcher, sometimes in a metal container thingy that sits on top of the bar , sometime rest it handle side up on the grate between the espresso bit and the steaming wand
-_-slimshady 2 points 8m ago
we have plexies that we put them in just like our ice scoop
pzisme 2 points 8m ago

oddbitch 1 points 8m ago
we have a metal container for it! we also put the milk thermometers in there
sashiyaki 1 points 8m ago
Our stores use magnets we put on the side of the espresso machines. The spoons stick perfectly.
