I quit during holiday launch peak on a Friday because I was being bullied by millennials for $15 an hour.(self.starbucksbaristas)

I loved working at Starbucks more than anything! I had been there for 7 months, and received partner of the quarter my first quarter there. I did the tips, decorated our holiday signs, made a nametag for every partner for holiday launch, and even hosted coffee tastings. But i left work sobbing every day because of my shift leaders calling me names and lying about things i did to my manager. My last straw was on this Friday during the busiest peak ive seen all year during our holiday launch. I was 7 hours into my 9 hour shift when I asked for a lunch (I opened that day also... I also opened for them 5 days a week). My shift leader said "she wont stop fucking bitching for a break" over the headset to my manager, and my manager proceeded to yell at ME!! I sobbed in my car for 30 mins on my lunch, came back in, and told them that I am not coming back. Told them I will be back for my tips on Wednesday... if they can train someone new to finish them by then. I slept in today for the first time in months. I am free, and will never work at a drive thru again. Starting at a target cafe in a few weeks and training to be a shift, theres always a better team out there. 🥳

Congrats on your freedom!! And shame on them for speaking to and about you that way. Hope those bitches have to open AND close for a week and regret their behaviour when they have to pick up the slack of a great and capable employee!!! Report them, bullying in any capacity is so wrong but being a subordinate and being talked to is extra awful/wrong

Thank you so much! I think i will report them, my other coworkers don't deserve to go through that, but they will definitely be picking up the pieces for a while lol, idk why they put so much responsibility on someone they treated so badly lol.

Yeah cussing on the floor and the headset is now allowed btw and your manager should’ve been on them for that tbh. That’s awful tho, you deserved much better than that. And not getting your lunch after SEVEN HOURS?? Did you even get your 2 tens? Awful. I’m so sorry for you and so happy you got out of it

I did this, reported all the shadyness and the unsupportive SM I was working for in an extremely detailed email, even admitting to a curse word I said in the process of walking out during peak for the pumpkin launch, the day of my 6 months, and being partner of the quarter. I was offered to be able to transfer, which I decided to do- best decision of my life. My DM listened, and opened an investigation into my claims, I only mentioned people who either witnessed behavior or I believed would talk- and I got a write up for cussing on the floor, but, other than that- best thing that happened to me. I’ve faced no retaliation, and I love my new crew!I also did a lot of SSV work as a regular barista, I was the one always picking up shifts and coming in on a whim, I’ve heard I’m greatly missed at my old store, but I couldn’t work for that particular SM any longer. Always crying they were unsupported and always having myself and one other barista cleaning up their messes and short comings. I laid it all out in an email, dates and any proof I had. It’s worth it.

Please report that behavior to PCC if you have the mental energy to. Even if nothing comes out of it, that can start the paper trail for other partners who may be having issues.
I’m glad you’re out of that toxic environment and I hope your next experience is amazing!!
Broad_Ad_4306 [OP]20 points8m ago
Thank u for saying this!! I didnt know that PCC existed, just got off the phone after filing 3 reports with them. I appreciate it so much!

Man I would of ripped them a new one if they talked to me like that. But honestly you did the smart thing by just being like “I’m not coming back” and quitting. So sorry you had to go through that friend! You seem like an awesome person and I hope you are more appreciated where you are going 🥰

They lost an incredibly caring worker. Many stores would beg to have partners like you. I’m sorry that happened to you and they treated you that way. Thank you for your service to the siren.

True.

I work at a Starbucks too, I’m about 5 months into it and I loved every day in it, it’s just some of my shifts don’t like me, and idgaf ion like them either, I ended up only work mid afternoon to closing , and it’s pretty fun, but I’m transferring cuz of my SM
Broad_Ad_4306 [OP]4 points8m ago
Good on you for transferring! sometimes the team just isn't the right fit, but Im glad your also staying with starbucks, its a fun job when ur with fun people:)
PsychoOxO2 points8m ago
Don’t get me wrong, they my friends I love them, it’s the SM fault, he cuts people’s hours and they just don’t care in general
Broad_Ad_4306 [OP]5 points8m ago
exactly! i get what u mean. my SM gave me 5.75 shifts daily so she didn't have to let me eat legally even after I told her I need breakfast eventually :,) Its about finding an SM that cares about ur needs over times and hours and profit sadly
PsychoOxO2 points8m ago
Yeah same, I get 5.50 hours for about 5 days a week, and I get to eat in my 10s thank christ but I barely work around 6-9 hour shifts, and that was when I was a minor , I’m 18 rn and I get to work as long as I want
Magnumxl7116 points8m ago
Damn your managers sound like absolute trash
Creative-Clothes-5206 points8m ago
This makes me sad because I love my team so much and if this was my experience I couldn’t love the coffee and making a guest experience amazing as much as I do
verdeuce4 points8m ago
Swearing on the floor TO the sm??? How are people still employed after this behavior?
darkwolf5231 points8m ago
Better question is how do anyone that swears still work at Starbucks? I’m guilty of this but I don’t do it on purpose, just accidents
verdeuce2 points8m ago
Yeah swearing on the floor is separation worthy according to the prsc. I usually just deliver finals though
darkwolf5231 points8m ago
Whoops
xerox-of-a-xerox4 points8m ago
this makes me so sad to read but proud that you were able to walk out of there. sometimes the best thing we can do for our injustice is just leave!!!
RyusuiJL2 points8m ago
I'm sorry about all the bullshit you had to deal with. But it's awesome thar you were able to let yourself separate from that toxic pit. I hope all the best for you in the next place!
baebaebluebird1 points8m ago

Good for you. Always leave hostile work environments.
darkwolf5231 points8m ago
Bruh isn’t that reportable if a manager doesn’t give you your lunch if you worked for 8 hours
darkwolf5231 points8m ago
But congrats on the freedom
Levyxxy1 points8m ago
Damn that’s a lot of money but yeah fair, you shouldn’t have to deal with that

I’m almost 4 months into it, I question it everyday, the attitude from my SM and the way we’re treated is so shitty, one of my shifts are stepping down because of it. The SM doesn’t care if people work more than 1 job and if they do and ask for those days off, the SM schedules them anyway. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
GoldennTrash1 points8m ago
that infuriates me so much for you, but i’m very happy u got out of that shitty situation. i would have had a lot to say to my coworkers if they felt the need to treat me in such ways. bullshit. glad ur happy now! <3
