As an opener I’d say those things are pretty minor, you did what you could. This openers vs closers mentality is so messed up and I’m sorry that you’re feeling the stress. We all have stressful aspects of our job and it shouldn’t be a competition of who has it worse (which has seemed to be the case lately on here). It’s even harder being new/newish where you haven’t yet gotten a rhythm of how to complete all tasks in the time you have. I still struggle with opening in the 30 mins before we actually open and have consistently gotten better at figuring out which things to prioritize and what can be done after we open (for the most part).

As an opener, I like when we have some tasks we can get done before peak starts. It’s better than having nothing to do and just standing around

Hey, you could do what I did and talk to your coworkers and mention "hey I'm still new, please keep that in mind, but I really appreciate any reminders or checklists." Helped me go from a struggling closer to looking like I close the store almost every night in under a month or so. Checklists are your friend, dont be afraid to write down what needs to be done in a sticky note and shove it in your appron pocket. When I get bored I stick my hands in my pockets and I'd always find that note of things that can be done.

That’s not all on you though, plus those are very minor things, the shift should time it out to where if your low you start doing small things an hour before you actually close, my shift I close with gets us out by 8:45-8:50 because we’ve timed it to know when to start so we aren’t all staying longer.
