So my cafe closed early today because I guess we didn’t have staffing to stay open until 9pm. I had signage posted since I started my shift showing our hours and times. I gave everyone a 15 minute warning that we were closing and when I got to the magic hour Everyone was being nasty, giving me nasty glares and attitudes about me asking them to leave. Mind you, these people were warned. One group took 15 minutes to use the bathroom AFTER being told we were closed and then I had people arguing with me about taking orders. I literally told them “I can’t accept new orders because I have to count tills. I cannot count tills with customers in the store. I need you to leave, my business is CLOSED.” I literally got asked a bunch of questions regarding the store and staffing and one man GRABBED and SQUEEZED my arm as he was leaving saying, “oh sweetie.You need to stop doing this, last time your machines didn’t work and I got free coffee…” literally yelled at him to not grab me before locking the door in his face.

Because Starbucks teaches its customers they can do whatever they want, no matter how it makes the baristas feel or react. Come work at a different coffee shop. The only shitty customers we get are the ones that got lost on their way to a Starbucks

I’ve got 39 credits before I graduate with zero student debt, but thankfully I don’t close often. Yesterday was my first time in….six months or so.

jesus christ that’s aggressive, im sorry you had to deal with that. i remember once my store closed early because 8 of our people had covid. a group of girls were banging their fists on the glass outside the locked door. i swear there’s no group more unhinged than starbucks customers

I don’t understand why though. There are other coffee shops (like 8) around us and three Starbucks within. 1.5 mile route, with like 10 in a five mile radius. :/

I mean we’re a “low volume”, “event-filled” location. We had two people on shift when we get to mid 30’s for transactions, there was also availability issues involved which is why DM approved our closure.

we had two workers and one SSV last night, and since our other managers are skipping everyone’s lunches and breaks, he was adamant we at least got ours, so for some of the time it was just two people on the floor with cars lined up far back. the lobby was high volume so we had to shut it down, but we stayed open and then a girl replaced me to do closing. i am sure they were there past midnight. they usually are.

I’m going to when I open tomorrow, I couldn’t do it at the time because I was already 15 minute behind because these assholes wouldn’t vacate the premises. I was so pissed. Like I give it to my closers, we closed early and people would not fucking leave despite signage being posted and doors being locked (we have two doors, one of which you can push open and it’ll lock itself. I had one family even let their other friend in….I was so fucking pissed.
