People think our jobs are as easy as breathing air molecules(self.starbucksbaristas)

It baffles me how people think all we do is make drinks and chill out. They have no idea how much we do and the work, stress and effort we put in everyday just for them to be entitled or a Karen. Has anyone else experienced this? Even with family members who dont count this as a "real job".

Nobody sees any food service job as a "real job" and fir some reason being a barista is seen as the cushiest hourly job. Plus it helps reinforce the narrative that we're entitled when we ask for better working conditions or try to unionize.

Oh yeah lol I went from Starbucks to a "rEaL jOb" and there's no comparison. So much more downtime, not running around doing a million things. Starbucks is so much work lol. Also it's insane to me how long it takes to get vacation time w/ Starbucks

A customer driving a BMW SUV once said completely sincerely “you have such an ideal job ❤️”. Bethany I can guarantee at least 2 of my coworkers are on food stamps and I cannot afford a car, let alone to live somewhere that doesn’t have crackheads and I go to (free - because the company knows they’re bad!!!) therapy because of this gig. But that’s just me. You’re right, my job IS ideal.

That's because millionaire politicians and talk show hosts keep shitting on us and talking about us like we're jokes to them. Meanwhile they've never worked a day in the service industry, and if they have, it was before mobile orders and not as nearly as bad as the capacity of orders there are in current time. I don't respect anyone who mocks us.

Making coffee, sure.
Dealing with people, not so much.
I have worked retail, I try to be pleasant with people on the other side of the counter.
