I work at an overly busy store and our coverage usage is always over the amount we’re given. Our baristas are constantly drowning on bar during the whole day then towards the end of the day, the shifts in charge don’t do much. They stand around on their phones or they hide in the back/bathroom in protest of doing their job/jobs. I’ve talked to my ASM about things to do and those suggestions don’t really help. What are some things you all could offer? Mind you, I’ve watched night shift stand around and not clean when they’re supposed to. Every day we’re working in a filthy store and everyone complains it’s dirty (including them), but no one actually cleans it.. What should I do, honestly? (I’m looking for advice here before I go to my SM.)

Anon report to corporate, that should get people cleaning.
Your supervisors/management are allowing this to happen, time for a shake up.

we just had the health department come in and tell our manager that we need to do some deep cleaning… not sure if that means they’ll adjust clean play or actually enforce cleaning to be done.. but yeah :’)

If I were you I would bide my time while secretly searching for a different job. Ask yourself, is working at this particular spot really worth the trouble of trying to change the toxic culture? Cafe jobs are a dime a dozen and easy to come by if you are a half way decent worker. Unless there is some reason that you absolutely HAVE to continue working there, I’d move on.
