I had a customer tell me at the speaker “Btw you might want to put a mask on cuz I have covid”

*in drive thru*

me: Hey! Thank you for choosing Starbucks, home of the Starbucks Siren! What can I get started for you?

person: *hacks their lungs up violently*

me: Might I suggest a Honey Citrus Mint Tea? It sounds like your throat would appreciate it!

person: Sorry, I actually wanted to come get a medicine ball. *hacks even more*

me: Yeah so that’s the same thing! A medicine ball is actually the ‘trendy’ name for it!

at the window, i tender them and i try to make a connection

me: Im so sorry about that cough you have! It sounds terrible!

them: Yeah, my mom thinks it’s either the flu or covid but i only go out with my friends once a week so I’m not sure how I would’ve gotten either.

me:😧😧

at my last coffeeshop job a guy handed me a bill to pay for his coffee and then told me “oh by the way you might want to wash your hands; i have a cold” and i guess he saw my face fall bc he tried to defend himself with “it’s just a. cold” or something like that but BRO I DONT WANT THAT EITHER

I’ve had customers admit that they have the flu, come in maskless, and stay and chat with friends for hours in the cafe. They don’t care. They’ve never cared.

Were they like obviously sick like contagious? It could always just be allergies or some thing that’s got them congested. I know I’ve gotten a medicine ball just because I like the way it tastes not because I’m sick or anything

That is why I still wear my mask while I’m working, even though I’m the only barista that still does at my store. Also I wish customers would call it by its correct name

my favorite way people have ordered it at my store is the “citrus defender”

ive had many of these experiences, but on a positive note i had a very sneezy woman apologizing to me and swearing it was just allergies and was absolutely excited when i told her local honey does wonders for allergies

I drink medicine balls even when I’m not sick because they are good 😹😹😹

This is a daily occurrence of people coughing in my face asking for a medicine ball.

Citrus is actually a throat irritant so it’ll make sore throats worse

I love when they order it, hacking up a lung, cough on their hand that has the cash in it right before they hand it to me

Ok I order a medicine ball all the time just cause it’s good, I only wear a mask like half the time but I’m never sick when buying it it’s just yummy
