Are custom orders annoying?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by VermillionEclipse
I love Starbucks and I appreciate how hard you baristas work. Sometimes I see order suggestions on social media for special drinks like for example:
Ask for: Venti iced mocha Blonde espresso No whip on top Extra caramel drizzle on sides of cup Vanilla sweet cream Cookie crumble on top
It sounds good but I feel like I’d be being a pain in ass asking for something so customized! How do you feel when customers order stuff like this?

Honestly as long as your nice about it no one really thinks much about it. The only problem is when people order drinks like this without telling us what is actually in it lol.

As long as you’re respectful and kind about it. It’s our job to make your drink, no matter how ridiculous it is. (And to be fair yours is not that complicated) just remember, it’s our job to make your drink- you’re a paying customer

Yeah if you’re nice about it’s usually no big deal. I actually like making them especially when it’s slow. It’s when customers start demanding and act like we’re already susposed to know what’s in it is when it gets annoying. Even more annoying when they are holding up the line and being rude about it.

the only time i stare at a sticker in awe is when the drink is absolutely vile 😭 one regular gets a venti iced coffee with 7 pumps caramel syrup, 7 pumps dark caramel sauce, AND extra caramel drizzle. i may just hate caramel but this makes me wanna vomit 😭
customizations are kinda fun to make tho it’s just frustrating when customers don’t understand that that’s why their drink takes longer :)

If you’re nice (like actually say hi and respond to the how are you before saying “I need a..”), have the recipe instead of a secret menu name, and say that recipe at a normal human pace… you are totally not annoying.

Try r/Starbucks next time

Almost always no only when it’s super weirdly ridiculously complicated or the customer is really rude but that case could make a drip coffee annoying. It’s so common for drinks to be customized it rarely stands out - get what sounds good to you you’re paying a lot for the drink and you should have something you enjoy.

order whatever you want but don’t come into our subreddit and ask if you’re annoying us lmao
VermillionEclipse [OP]2 points8m ago
Why though? It’s a question I’ve been wanting to know the answer to 🙃
Osideboys7 points8m ago
This is for people who actually work at Starbucks not customers with questions they can just ask at their local Starbucks
Liberalmuffin1 points8m ago
go to r/starbucks this is just for us who work here
VermillionEclipse [OP]-1 points8m ago
I got it, several people have told me lol I looked at the rules before I posted the question and it didn’t say you can’t post if you aren’t a barista
Liberalmuffin2 points8m ago
“subreddit for starbucks baristas and employees” should have been enough lol
dankmobile1 points8m ago
there are plenty of baristas to answer your question in the regular starbucks reddit, this one is called starbucksbaristas
