i started in the beginning of øct. and had training after peak, did modules and then hands on with trainer. Trainer was very nice but the store seemed understaffed at times. Generally I felt in the way of every barista, so we focused on prep, and CS.. I guess I didnt get any practice shifts, just pressed into DTOor DTW for all current shifts. I had to ask to practice bar and get it approved by the supervising shift. Tried out bar and sucked in my opinion, backed up DT times and got thrown back onto dto. Now i'm looking at my future weeks sch and they've dropped me down to 17 hours. I don't know anyone that can survive off of that, and then being put on for 4:30 shifts? Can someone give any advice? I didnt even get a check in w/ my manager after 'training' was done.

Hey.... that's kinda just how it goes rn. It may not be the best practice to put green beans specifically only in non production roles, but most stores start you that way, esp during holidays. I had to do my dues when I started and basically worked dto/dtr/front register for like my first month. Hopefully they'll move you soon. Just make sure you speak up for yourself and say you'd like bar practice.

Once you are on bar, Be as communicative as you can with both customers and partners about how long the wait is/ if you need help.
Good luck!

Edit: talk to your manager about the low hours and make it clear you need more for your living situation. Some managers will really help you out if you are not making enough. If you do not get much help from your manager, put a note next to the schedule saying you are looking to pick up extra shifts with your phone number next to it.
