i am so tired of being told my job is easy!! i love my job, i really do. but people on the internet constantly telling me i just put stuff in cups, and all baristas do is complain. especially when most of what i say about my job is positive. i had someone yell at me for calling myself a barista, like yeah its fastfood but thats literally the job title. customer service is emotionally exhausting, and i wish everyone would work food service or retail for at least a year so that they knew what its like. why are these jobs with such high demand so talked down on? why cant we all just respect one another’s job?

So, people online hear us complain about the things customers do, the things they order, the things they say...

They're the customers.

So, they want to be kind and supportive and so on but they are caught between a rock and a hard place, the rock being caffeine/sugar/fat addiction, the hard place being baristas who aren't getting the appropriate materials, labor, support, and pay.

Plus they hear us diss the things they probably enjoy.

Makes it easier to hate us, lol.

TL:DR- They are addicted, which keeps them coming in spite of their consciences, but they feel bad and don't want to feel bad so they choose to take online rhetoric as their hometown barista's POV and they lash out and carry on shamelessly, in shame, lol. I think it's called a defense mechanism.
