How much are yall getting paid an hour? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by TruthBeerFloat
heyitsmaria24 56 points 8m ago
Starting pay is 15
TruthBeerFloat [OP] 29 points 8m ago
They told me I'm starting at 15.50. Is it easy to get raises? How does that process work?
heyitsmaria24 30 points 8m ago
Yeah it depends on your location but the minimum starting pay is $15 in the US. Raises are given based on experience and your title (supervisors sometimes get higher percentages). Usually there’s a raise every year but if minimum wage goes up too, then it might be disappointing. And you get benefits like Spotify, tuition assistance for ASU/your first bachelors, and much more. Negotiating raises is pretty hard at Starbucks, honestly.

Also, hours are sometimes inconsistent. So I wouldn’t depend on this job alone to pay bills. Most of my partners have another job because of this.
TruthBeerFloat [OP] 4 points 8m ago
Interesting. Definitely gonna be having a side hustle but also

How much do you make in tips too?
ThiccOpossumDude 14 points 8m ago
Tips vary on how many hours you work and the takeaway for tips that week. Usually a good average is about 1.34$/hr for tips, that times how many hours you worked that week will usually give you a close number to your tips.
makmelaf17 1 points 8m ago
$1.34 hr?.. where do u work.... I got over a dollar only during Xmas
OkSignal7124 2 points 8m ago
Benefits don’t pay rent is the only thing that sucks
xcanIclockoutx 15 points 8m ago
We basically never get raises outside of the minor couple cent raise each year. Getting a raise approved outside of that is super rare.
-LilDinoNuggs- 1 points 8m ago
I've gotten 3
TruthBeerFloat [OP] 1 points 8m ago
Tuff. Do you know what the starting wage is for other positions like shift lead, assistant manager, and manager? When i applied on indeed it was telling me 19/hr for shift leads.
I_Main_Oru 2 points 8m ago
I got told 17 an hour before I got hired (by management) now it's 15.50 :,[
TruthBeerFloat [OP] 2 points 8m ago
Bruh they told me 19💀
I_Main_Oru 3 points 8m ago
I love starbucks 🥰 next year in California atleast it'll go up 22 an hour for all fast food, which will make everything else more expensive too of course
SnoopyCactus983 1 points 8m ago
I was told raises in January for parters that have been there already
pumpkinbarr 34 points 8m ago
19.05, supervisor in oregon
gabby24681 8 points 8m ago
Oregonian moved to the south. Was so weird to make less money here at my first job in the state than my first job ever in Oregon lol.
CheeseEaster 2 points 8m ago
20 as SSV, but I'm a three year partner so I assume that had something to do with it.

Other SSV at my store make 19.05 and they are less than 8 months with company
Hour-Contribution287 2 points 8m ago
19.05, supervisor in new jersey
Magicenbykat 1 points 8m ago
19.50 supervisor in NC. Hired on at that rate but I have previous managerial experience

Also 19.05. Supervisor in Hawaii.
uselesslesbianism 1 points 8m ago
also 19.05, supervisor in GA
hatman_v4 29 points 8m ago
Been here 3 years. Only making 15. Kill me.
Former_Economics9424 31 points 8m ago
I'm at $15.99 after 3 years. I started trying less hard, acting my wage.
hatman_v4 14 points 8m ago
I'm trying to get promoted to shift and I'm a barista trainer so I can't really "try less hard" when my current reputation is the store's hardest worker.
Former_Economics9424 5 points 8m ago
that sucks dude
dlcksuck 4 points 8m ago
We’re in the same boat my dude
Professional-Cat393 4 points 8m ago
15.75 after 3 1/2 years lollll
gingergal-n-dog 3 points 8m ago
Why didn't you get the pro-rated minimum based off months/years of service? You should probably double check your paystub and contact corporate hr with questions.
At my store 15 is starting base but everyone with years of service has an adjusted pay rate. For example, my 3yr is this month and I'm making $.75 on top of base rate for years of service.
Hungry-Hat-2195 22 points 8m ago
probably unrelated but we get paid $22 in Australia which is min wage.
TruthBeerFloat [OP] 13 points 8m ago
I've heard california might raise it to the 20s with inflation rn
dlcksuck 9 points 8m ago
I’m in CA and bro I wish they would. Only thing I’ve heard is that CA partners will start getting weekly pay in December
TruthBeerFloat [OP] 3 points 8m ago
Oh hell yeah thats wsp
lanastan4everlolz 1 points 8m ago
Omg what??
Hungry-Hat-2195 4 points 8m ago
that’s really good! for perspective though, $22 aud in $14 usd and we don’t get tips.
TruthBeerFloat [OP] 1 points 8m ago
Oh bruh... *lil violin noises*
Hungry-Hat-2195 2 points 8m ago
Sorry I really didn’t mean to come across that way but I can see how it did. I just wanted to point out that our $20 doesn’t = the same as yours in case people weren’t aware of those differences. I don’t think we have it the worst whatsoever.
freakkinthesheets 10 points 8m ago
Anybody every get told when they were a green bean that discussing pay with other partners is grounds for termination??? Feels like a weird thing to be fired for almost like their trying to hide something..
forevermoonshine 15 points 8m ago
That’s an unfair labor practice and illegal, you are absolutely allowed to talk about pay
freakkinthesheets 3 points 8m ago
Wild . I've literally had two different store managers try telling me this an it never made sense to me.
Mellatine 5 points 8m ago
If you can get them saying that on record you can sic the Department of Labor on them and bask in the glory
MobileBobTheAlien 2 points 8m ago
Employers get around this by using particular wording. Say things that it is confidential or that they recommend that you don't discuss it, but not say that it is a terminal offense.
Ceramicusedbook 8 points 8m ago

Edit: adding age
cultsona 1 points 8m ago
Started at $15, got moved to $15.50 after being barista certified. Morning shift, however, gets paid $17.50/$18. Im a licensed store though so unfortunately we have really shit rules. Apparently closing shift means it doesn't matter if i cant afford groceries 🥳🥳🥳
[deleted] 1 points 8m ago
[deleted]
cultsona 1 points 8m ago
for our store since we're not corporate, it just means upper management ask you to make a bunch of drinks and watch you make em, just making sure you got it all down. After that it takes them like 6 weeks to actually put the .50 cent raise into your paycheck but you get a bit more
KitchenSuspicious911 1 points 8m ago
I get 21.70 and I’ve been w the company about 3 years.

mutualmilkhotel 1 points 8m ago
$17.09 in southern CA (barista for 3 years)
ShadyShawol 1 points 8m ago
I'm in the UK. We have an age group based system, so for my age group (21 years old and above) as a supervisor I get paid £10 ph. This is 82p more than national minimum wage for said age group.
ShadyShawol 1 points 8m ago
Working 40hrs a week on this wage is barely enough to afford to live with a roommate, DEFINITELY not alone. Starbucks worldwide needs to increase wages
Jealous_Tie1859 1 points 8m ago
$17.04 - south bay Los Angeles
canidieyet_ 1 points 8m ago

21.00 even as a shift in florida
sixsmallsheep 1 points 8m ago
this thread is making feel sad because my local starbucks used to be a licensed store and a poorly managed stand-alone and i (licensed) started off at $11 and then left and came back and made $12.50 while my fellow baristas were still making $11

gladly left when i found out the manager there wasnt properly training people and she hired her best friend and made her a trainer almost immediately
Alternative_Exam3723 1 points 8m ago
Like $16.49 or something. I be leading people and shit (licensed not corporate)
_volcanoboi_ 1 points 8m ago
£10.10 *cries in British*
StickyNoteMurdercat 1 points 8m ago
$15 but I just passed my 1 year rehire so it should hopefully be a tiny bit more in 2023

ETA: I live in Florida & before it was $12 an hour & the raise ACTUALLY allowed me to move out on my own again because housing/apartment rent inflation in my last area was ridiculous.
Either_Square4366 1 points 8m ago

I was told I would also be making $15.50 but after checking my pay stubs multiple times it only says $15. I asked my new SM about it and he's clueless ( We have had 3 in 4 months with no assistant ). Talked to my other Co workers and they also are only making $15. I would check ur pay stubs.
