So I feel completely unsafe at work now. (self.starbucksbaristas)

So on Monday, we had a psychotic customer get out of her car in drive thru and storm into the store and start screaming bloody murder at us and throwing our displays . I have a video but I’m not sure if i would lose my job if i posted (might just quite anyway). The police came, I gave a statement (never let the times go down tho! Kill me).

Anyways; first thing I thought was that these are the screams of someone in the edge and if she has a gun she is shooting. Our store is completely open. Not one door to the back. I thought about how i might have to barricade some of my partners out with her. Just this woman was nuts like I have never seen.

So I’m at work today for the first time since and someone (a regular who was there too) mentions that he might see her car in the drive thru. It wasn’t but i realized I was shaking the rest of my shift. I don’t trust my manager. He is the kinda guy that would serve her to avoid a reaction when i need her banned from the store. I feel unsafe at work and I’m not sure what to do now.

Sorry for the typos im like banging this out through tears. Just got off.

If Starbucks actually cared they'd have a zero tolerance policy. Yell at partners once and you're banned. Honestly that should be a rule in the entire industry.
Best advice I can give if you don't quit is to request a transfer, and make it clear it's bc you don't feel safe.

Dude omg I'm glad youre alive. This is scary shit wtf. I'm ngl I'm still new to Starbucks but this feels like a Ethics and Compliance phonecall type of thing. More than anything, Lyra is free therapy provided to all partners upon hire. I have PTSD and other mental health issues and the therapist I got knew her shit. Not to diagnose, but this feels like PTSD like that your brain can't understand that the danger is over (you can't continue to wait for her to come back for forever), you can't relax, and you have physical signs of distress. It also sure as fuck doesn't help that she is still allowed to come back to the store. She should absolutely be banned, she threw shit, I'm guessing threatened y'all but at a very minimum verbally abused y'all. I'm sorry you went through that. I hope you give yourself patience and time to heal. And that Starbucks bans her.

Update: I spoke with my manager. We did hear back from the police and they did find her. And she is 86’d from the store.

Also, I’ve educated myself on our emergency meeting spots and procedures… that’s about all I feel like I have the power to do.

The real issue I think I’m having is realizing a reality I’ve been ignoring for a while. I’m never really that safe in a customer serving role. In this day in age I very well could die over a cup of coffee and I probably wouldn’t even make a headline.

Sorry for the depressing end. It is amazing that lady is BANNED now.
