What kind of barista are you? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Do you correct the customer when they ask for a large drink? And you teach them its VENTI.
Personally I don’t think it matters.

I don’t bother. Back when I was trained I remember a module specifically saying to not correct customers on our sizing scheme. They pay us to know that. Small, medium, large works fine

as long as they manage to come up with some kind of word for the size they want i don't care. "well i dunno what your fancy sbux word for LARGE is but i want whatever that is!"

you could just. you could just say large. im not gonna hurt you for saying large.

it's when they use both the word "tall" and "large" together that bugs me. like oh you want a tall or a large latte? well damn buddy there's a whole 8oz difference between those please answer my follow up question of "so did you want the largest size we have?"

I actually prefer them to say "small", "medium", or "large".

I would so much rather someone tell me small/medium/large than have to remake their drink because they thought the tall was large.

I don't. Because 99% of the time the ones who say small, medium, large, usually say they are confused by our sizes and aren't sure. I let them know at the window, what the size name is, but I just make it easy for them. If we can understand what size it is, that's all that matters

I say it back the correct way, but don’t make a point to correct them about it. Sometimes they realize, and then they start saying it correctly, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes when we ask what size, they say they don’t remember our terms, and in that case I usually just tell them “it’s essentially small, medium, large (and if they’re ordering something that has a trenti, I say ‘and larger than large’)”. It’s really not worth the hassle of expecting them to say the sizes correctly when they usually can’t manage to say their drink the correct way, despite them ordering it every day for the last 3 years. 🫠

Yeah I do the same like I also do the same if they mispronounce something like sorry, if you say you want a strawberry ass-y I’m not going to say it incorrectly back, but I’m also not trying to be a jerk about correcting someone’s mispronunciation. Words are hard, especially uncaffeinated lol.

I don’t care, if they say large I say large, when they ask the sizes I say they can say small medium or large cause we aren’t too picky, I feel like it makes them feel welcome

I don’t correct them during the order process but I do call it out using our size names. If they look confused I tell them “yep Grande is our medium!” Easy peasy
