So I am a barista and I have been closing for almost my whole life at Starbucks which has only been about 9 months but today was just horrible. I am covering for a fellow partner so I get to my store at 3:30pm, I find out that another partner is unable to close as they are home sick so I extend my time from pre-close (11:30pm) to close (12:00am). So I think ‘hey this is fine we will still have enough people to properly close even if we are down a partner for pre-closing tasks’. But the partner who was supposed to close ended up feeling sick so they ended up going home. We had to close the cafe since there were only 3 of us in the store at the time, and were only accepting orders through the drive through. We were unable to get into contact with our store manager so we could not turn off mobile orders or deliveries. When we went to lock the door for the Cafe the key would not lock the door. We tried for a few minutes before giving up and my SSV put in a ticket request at around 8pm. We had only two of us (me and my SSV) trying to close the store and get orders out with a holiday rush. We couldn’t even start closing tasks because of how busy we were for 2 hours straight. By 11:15pm the rush was done but we haven’t even started on closing tasks so we were far behind. We ended up finishing most tasks by 12:10am and by 12:22am we clocked out and left. Unfortunately the cafe door was still unable to be locked but they were unable to send someone in time to the store (they said about 2 hours we would have to wait for someone to get there to fix the door) and after the night we had we were not going to stay for that.

What was the follow up on not stay and the door?

Honestly not too much since we still had the alarm system in place etc it was fixed by the morning and our SM understood.
