i have an SSV whos verbally abusive, i feel like he’s prejudiced towards me. he’s constantly making my life at work miserable. whenever i make a small mistake, he screams at me, sometimes punching me in the ribs too. other times he’s fine but this is starting to take a toll on me and im not sure what to do seeing as how my SM and SSV go way back. any help would be appreciated :)

I'm sorry, he's *assaulting* you, both physically and verbally? Contact your DM, at the absolute least, but you must call the ethics and compliance hotline to report this. This is completely unacceptable, and I'm sorry you've being dealing with this.

This SSV needs to be reported to your DM and ethics. Furthermore, you are within your rights to file a police report against him for physically assaulting you. I am so sorry you are experiencing this. Is your SM aware that this is happening?

im afraid to tell my SM, mainly because of what she may respond with (what if she defends her actions) & also because it’s going to cause a lot of tension at the store, it’s going to be tough seeing as how i’ll be working with my SM & SSV a ton

I think it’s worth a try. If the SM defends his actions then you can take that up to the DM and report them to ethics as well. There is absolutely no justification for that kind of behavior. You have the right to be safe and respected at work.

She defends her actions? In your post you specified they are a he?

my SSV is a he, my SM is a she

Report it; the more they retaliate after, the more evidence you have for a case if you file a police report… or for an ethics report

So it's either be afraid or do something about it. Report that shit

Contact the DM and maybe the police if someone is *physically assaulting* you at your place of work. You do not have to stand for that omg.

There should be camera footage in the store. Go beyond your sm and report this to corporate hr. If you give them a date and time that your coworker touched you, they can verify it. At that point, it would be out of your manager’s hands. They might not take the screaming seriously, but they have to protect you from assault.

Punching you in the ribs?!

Wtf???? So sorry you’re going through this. He absolutely needs to be reported. Go straight to the DM and ethics with this. Physical assault should not be a part of any job.

Bro… punching u in the ribs? No way, get that bitch fired.

HUHHH???? I think that’s more than verbally abusive
linseeded3 points8m ago
Bruh go to hr with a time and date of when he punched you, and maybe also pictures of bruises. What the FUCK that is the wildest shit I’ve heard in a while wtf dude report him right now
taylorthenavigator3 points8m ago
This has already been said, but you need to report asap. I would immediately talk to the SM, call the DM and let them know that it’s been reported the SM, and then call Ethics. I would do it in the same day. I’d also make a police report, because I mean..physical assault is NOT okay. You need to document every negative interaction with this SSV until they’re removed.

I’d report it to the DM like everyone else BUT I’d also contact the police. Physical assault is against the law. There should be camera footage to prove it. I know it’s terrifying, but it’ll be someone else if it’s not you. And Starbucks corporate does not work fast enough to make sure you’re safe, AND there’s no guarantee Starbucks DM/higher ups will do anything. That’s not to say you should try and report to see what happens, but please inform the police as well. They’ll act faster. For example, I have a partner who has literally “joked” many many times in front of everyone about shooting up our store, and talks about how they identify with Jeffery dahmer and Ted Bundy. Almost every partner at my store reported this person, but there is a lot of fine print and red tape and crap like that that needs to be dealt with before they can be fired, if they’re fired at all. I hope this was helpful, and I really hope you get the help you need for this. This is not your fault and you absolutely do not deserve to be treated this way by anyone. Good luck
