I’m a grocery store barista & i have to open & I’ll be by myself for an hour before the next person comes, it’s my first red cup day.

It's OK as long as you don't run out.

Oddly I think it’s even better when we do run out. Hear me out Im not happy telling customers we are out of cups and they’re not happy either but we are an understaffed store and it gets to be too many drinks to make when we have the cups in too

Yeah, for an understaffed store it's better not to have to deal with all the extra that red cup day brings. The grief these people experience when denied their special plastic cup would be comic if not for the fits they pitch.

last year we had so many red cups that at the end of the night we were giving them to everyone even if they didn’t order a holiday drink

Honestly the past two years have not been as bad I thought they would be. The only people who know about it are die hard fans of Starbucks or those who have the app. Anyone else is just confused by it. I would say half of your customers won't even know about it. You'll be busier than normal for sure but I promise you'll survive.
