do yall not do the “grounds for your garden” thing? putting them in empty bean bags and putting them out free for customers to use for their gardens. we don’t ever throw away the pucks unless the bin they go in is full and we don’t have time to fill up some bags.

One trick our store uses is to put a small cardboard box wrapped in trash bags at the bottom of your grounds trash can so that doesn’t get as full. Basically you can still use a big container that the drawers will fit into but you can half the volume by filling the space with empty cardboard so your grounds bags don’t get so heavy. That combined with making garden grounds bags keeps our grounds trash pretty manageable most of the time

I'd just say fresh brownies right out of the oven and hand them out to customers to have a sample.

I dont know why it's so common for no one to change the grounds bin until it's heavy as fuck, aka about to overflow on the floor. When I notice it getting 3/4 full I change it. I do my fair share of taking out the trash and I know I can't lift it if it's super full and heavy so I make sure to change it

We have like 2 guys who come in and take the entire trash bag full, honestly makes our lives waaaaaaay easier

We be sure to empty the can when it's half full. Especially since we have a lot of older people who pick them up for their gardens or whatnot.

For reference, we have a smaller office type trash can for it. Maybe a 5 gallon can?

We do a grounds garden for cold brew grounds but throw pucks in the trash with everything else. Take out trash when full of everything we throw in there

If the pucks are that much of an issue for you to throw out, is there someone else who can do it? I'm no longer with the siren and I like to take out my own trash, but sometimes if it's not changed all day it can be 80-100lbs and I need assistance with that. I COULD do it but it's equivalent to doing a powerlifting move at the gym and there's a ton of guys nearby who don't mind helping.

If there's not, line the green bin with a TON of bags. I'm talking 8-10. Everytime the drawer gets dumped 2-3x, tie off the bag, take it out and place in the back, and use the new bags. Or just have the standard double bag, tie it off, then put new bags on top and make multiple trash trips later.

Even in our high volume store this is just simply not an issue. If we regularly empty our grounds drawers (never shaking them and putting back) and are keeping up with everything there shouldn’t be very much espresso grounds per bag of trash.

We try to toss them before they're all the way full, but when it is. I just drag the entire trashcan to the compost can, tie the bag, then left the trash can up and dump it in. If it's SUPER heavy, I get someone to do a team lift with.

Just always remember, when customer support does a trash run, ALWAYS take out the rag trash and grounds trash. I started doing it whenever I'm CS so I don't have to worry about spilling anything, cause that shit is just annoying to clean

We have grounds for ur garden. But maybe you can do something similar but instead of giving it to customers it’s scooping them into more trash bags to make it easier to carry haha
