Best course of action to transfer stores? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by TruthBeerFloat
Did an interview and got hired at one store and completed the online boarding paperwork (haven't started working yet).

Next day, another store that's way closer to me (easier commute) emails me for an interview. I told them I was just hired at the other store but that I'd be interested in working at the closer one instead obviously.

They said I'll need to contact the hiring manager at the first store for a 'transfer request'.

I believe I'm still waiting for my background check to be finished from the first store btw.

The interview at the 2nd store (closer one) is scheduled for a few days from now.

Am I automatically hired at the 2nd store since the first store already hired me (even though I haven't had my first day of work yet, but I completed the paperwork and background check is otw)?

Should I wait until the 2nd store interviews me and confirms I'd be a good team member before proceeding to contact the first store about the transfer request?

What's the best thing for me to do?

I would let the first store know asap. Because technically they’ll do the background check but they can stop it at that point and have the other hiring manager take it from there without needing to do a transfer. Also, if you do request a transfer technically you have to be working for a bit (two months I think?) before being able to transfer. Your SM can also deny your request if they want to which sucks :/ Good luck!

Ah I see interesting. I was also thinking if possible I could work a couple days at one store and a couple days at the other. Would this be possible?

And what exactly should I tell the first store?

Sorry for the delay but tell them outright that you found a store closer to home and would prefer to work at that one. It’ll make the process easier for them and so they don’t have to worry about planning out your training.
