12 Hr Requirement (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by sophisticationpoint
Hello fellow partners! I have been working at Starbucks for over a year now, but I am worried I may be laid off because I haven’t really been able to work 12 hrs on average. I really do try, but I’m a college student and my availability is limited to only weekends. I try to make up for it on breaks but I can only do so much. Now, my manager has straight up told me that she can’t schedule me for 12 hours a week and that it’s “too challenging” for her. Does anyone know what would happen if I didn’t meet the requirement? What should I do?

You will be separated. You're required to have an 18-hour availability window as well

i do have an 18 hour availability window. i’m available to close on fridays and all day saturday and sunday. SM just chooses not to schedule me and has not told me why (even though i asked).
also, i’m not sure what you mean by “separated” if you could clarify that ?

separated means fired. sbux uses “partner” so “separation” is getting fired. they just like to use silly words to cover it.

Separated means fired. Being you have 18 hours of availability, your manager needs to make it work

I think you should be ok as long as you have atleast 18hrs of availability. You’re manager is responsible for you getting scheduled for those 12hrs.
