what are some of your least favorite things that customers do at your store? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by sad-broke-student
personally, i really hate it when they come up and touch every cup just to see if their order is done. i’m sorry ma’am but if i haven’t called your name your drink hasn’t been made 😭😭 when they just stare at me while i’m making drinks, talk loudly (and rudely) about the baristas/their wait times, and after i hand off a drink they ask me about their cake pops.

edit: i would also like to add that i HATE when customers in the drive-thru say that they want it hot, but then at the window they want it iced. and vice versa. my eye literally starts twitching

when i’m on bar and a customer grabs a drink and says “is this mine?” ESPECIALLY if there’s a name on it. first of all, i have literally no idea who you are and what your name is, i just make the drinks. second of all, there is a label on it for a reason. if you ordered one latte with whip and the sticker doesn’t have a name and says “1 of 1 latte with whip,” please use context clues.

When they leave straw wrappers at the hand off plane.

When they try to hand me their trash to throw away.

When they leave the water running in the bathroom when they're done.

Small things but it just makes me wonder what they think to themselves.

You’re like there’s literally a trash right behind you. That happens to me in drive all the time too

I used to have guests reach under the sneeze guard to grab a new lid. I made a point of making it obvious that I now had to throw out the entire stack of lids because I have no idea where there hands have been

when you're bagging up an uber eats order and chatting with the nice delivery person and a customer interrupts and says "i want mine bagged up too!" 😐

Handing off a drink in DT and they purposefully touch your hand 🤢

Walk up to interrupt baristas on cafe bar then they get confused as to why it’s taking even longer to get their drink after they literally stopped the barista from finishing the drink the were working on.

we have a regular who’s very nice but he’s there constantly just watching us and trying to make conversation while we’re in the middle of doing things, he literally pulls up a chair to the side of handoff plane and just talks to whoever goes near him like I’m sorry you’re lonely but sometimes i just wanna work without being interrupted every 2 minutes 🥹

I work at a cafe store so if you walk into my store, the counter starting from the pastry case all the way down to the end at the handoff, the counter goes all the way straight and then when you get to the handoff area it curves a little bit and goes into the wall in a corner. And then in that corner there we have the little stands that we put the mobile order drinks on. So the space between the counter there and the wall behind them at that curve, there is very little space between that area so customers sometimes go stand in that area just so they can stare at me on bar at every move that I'm making.

Then when somebody comes to pick up a mobile order, the person still stands there and just moves back a little bit with what little space they have and then the person trying to grab the mobile order just awkwardly just gets in front of them and grabs it. I want to ask my manager and see if there's something we could do to prevent people from standing there cuz it annoys some of the mobile pick up people and it crowds that area too much and I've seen mobile order customers trying to pick up their mobile order but they're standing there waiting for those people to freaking move

one time a lady reached over the counter and starting grabbing the syrups and picking them up.
