I really don’t know what the fuck is going on with people nowadays. It really feels like people don’t know how to be civil anymore and service workers are on the front lines of that. I’m so sorry that your store had to deal with that, I hope that customer is banned from your store and stores within your vicinity. That’s unacceptable behavior.

What business do u have being *that* angry in a fast food coffee place to where u spit on another human? Like i never get angry at all going to any food/beverage establishment let alone to the point where i cant straight and start acting a fool. Why is our customer base so unhinged and/or seemingly mentally unwell?
uwumoment 31 points 7m ago
i’ve told people that i think it’s because starbucks is so vocal about their benefits and pay rate, people like that get so angry about the fact that people who “make coffee” would be able to make anywhere near a live able wage. also starbucks coffee drinks are terrible and mainly sugar, so i think it’s just a sugar addiction/many of them experiencing withdrawal. either way, ppl at starbucks specifically are fucking crazy and are one of the many reasons i decided to leave. many people on the outside world are pleasant, starbucks attracts a certain breed of entitlement and craziness.

The literal only reason i havent left yet is because the health insurance i have thru starbucks is helping me a TON with some medications i get. Then if i leave, i hate that health insurance transitioning period and i have no money saved up to pay for medications until i get my next insurance coverage 😕

But yea i mean its sad that people dont view us as that we should be able to make a livable wage to support ourselves. People out there look at food/beverage workers as poor servants who are the lowest people who dont deserve to live a life without worry. Its gross. Starbucks definitely does attract a whole different breed of people. Starbucks makes policies and then "make the moment right" overrides everything else and so that makes customers become entitled and feel like if they don't wana pay for the pricey drink that they want, then they know they just have to get upset and Starbucks will override the rules and give them what they want. So Starbucks definitely breeds that feeling of entitledness in people

I am not encouraging you to quit, but if you decide to leave, you ate able to continue paying into you benefits plan to maintain coverage. I would assume you have to cover the full amount thst Sbux usually covers though. If the circumstance befalls you should have to leave this is something you should look into.

True, thank u for the tidbit because at my job before starbucks, I had health insurance through that job and when the company shut down, I started getting letters in the mail about something that has to do with what you're talking about but I didn't look too far into it because right when that company closed down is right when I started working at Starbucks because I was a regular at Starbucks and the manager knew me very well from that so I was able to start there right away

it also sucks that starbucks boasts those benefits and then cuts labor hours so some baristas like me are only scheduled a day a week even though we have 20-30 hours of availability. i left because it’s fucking stupid, my store hired 5 more shifts within the span of a month and 2-3 shifts are scheduled at the same time, so i wasn’t scheduled anymore. but i hated working there anyways
Responsible_Snow7109 1 points 7m ago
I dont blame ya. It is BS that they boast those benefits but then cut labor hours. Then turn around and only schedule people for a small time during the week even tho availability is open just so we can become desperate and cover shifts when asked every damn day off. I feel like thats whats goin thru their minds because there are some managers out there that have partners with a TON of availability but sometimes will skip putting that person on the schedule one week

that's literally assault/battery and a crime they should've been charged for (I would've called the cops)! That's fucking DISRESPECTFUL & DISGUSTING
jjd022980 12 points 7m ago
That’s assault seriously! I got cussed out and a drink thrown at me and my shift calmly lost his shit! I’m like the nicest person ever to customers! Wtf is wrong with people! Just catch me outside how about that!?

Citizens arrest until the cops show up. Press charges and sue the punk.
Downtown_Asparagus71 5 points 7m ago
Assault. Call the cops
Starbucks has brain washed us to accept rude behavior. Not ok.
Mnmpringles 5 points 7m ago
I swear customers were hard to deal with before but the moment those holiday drinks dropped its like a switch flipped and they went INSANE
AlectoBlood43 1 points 7m ago
Always does when those come out then the Red Cup Day just escalates things.
mrcupcake18 5 points 7m ago
I would say I would start swinging but knowing me I would probably be so shocked and upset that I wouldn’t know what to do in the moment. I would for sure be very verbal though lol but yeah so sorry they had to go through that! That is just DISGUSTING
iStealSharpies 3 points 7m ago
