what do you think is the most commonly messed up drink? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by CatalyticGenesis
as in, what do you see partners not know how to make correctly consistently, or is obscure enough that everyone just goes "uhhhhhh" when they see a sticker print?

i think my choice would have to be matcha lemonade - it's supposed to be half water.

honey citrus mint is also a huge contender bc of the non-standard pumps - it's 1/1/2/2 but i see it built with standard syrup pumps frequently.

edit - and how are they doing it wrong?

Matcha lemonade, iced London fog latte, green tea Frappuccino, strawberry cream Frappuccino
GhostLeetoasty 2 points 7m ago
I have no idea how to make an iced London fog but I had to make one for my partner (nonbinary person im dating not coworker) and they said it was a lot better than usual ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Caramel apple spice. I’ve seen some partners make the macchiato instead because it’s almost never ordered at my store.

brewed tea lattes & the caramel apple spice. most of us at my store just recently learned the latter finally because a new mobile regular gets it daily.

Technically flat white. Ppl either the extra shot, the ristretto, or they don't do the dot (which technically doesn't matter for taste)
ScroogeMcDust 2 points 7m ago
Flat white seems like the most difficult to master
MarieCrepes 2 points 7m ago
I fucking suck at Flat Whites 😭 I can never get the microfoam I feel really guilty about it
mymelodywithaglock 2 points 7m ago
after you aerate 2-3 seconds tilt the wand back and then tilt the pitcher towards you at 45 degrees for microfoam whirlpool 😎
MarieCrepes 1 points 7m ago
OMG thank you I'll try it out my next shift!

What do people do that's wrong? I'm super curious.

Put crunch topping on the bottom, put dark caramel instead of caramel drizzle on top.

Put mocha drizzle on bottom. Adding random number of shakes of both toppings
GhostLeetoasty 1 points 7m ago
Is there a specified amount of shakes?
Personal_Loan_2665 2 points 7m ago
i heard somewhere that it was 7
Decent-Ad3066 1 points 7m ago
7 cookie shakes on bottom. 4 shakes both toppings on top

Iced pourovers/brewed teas.

Blended strawberry lemonade.

Also funnily enough, Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew - unless the recipe changed, I think it used to be half pumps vanilla, but every store I worked in did full pumps.
sunflower-a 3 points 7m ago
its 3/4/6/7 half pumps or 1/2/3/4 full pumps
StormTheParade 1 points 7m ago
Ah yeah that was the issue! The stores I worked in were doing 3/4/6/7 *full* so they were super sweet.

It had been going on for so long, that when one of my supervisors realised it was 3/4/6/7 half, customers complained that their drinks were made wrong lmao
mymelodywithaglock 1 points 7m ago
Honey Almond Milk Flat White! I don’t think anyone knows it’s supposed to be blonde ristretto and 1/2/3/4 pumps of honey D: no one has ordered it in probably 4 months
tree_sah 1 points 7m ago
I’m in Canada so maybe the recipe is different here, but the bev card on store resources says it’s still 2, 3, 4, 5 pumps of honey blend syrup
mymelodywithaglock 1 points 7m ago
idk i think if it’s blonde you’re supposed to do one less full pump of syrup bc the espresso is already sweet. maybe it is different in canada 😭 💞
tree_sah 1 points 7m ago
That used to be a standard in Canada but isn’t anymore due to inconsistencies, but I thought they got rid of it in all of North America (it was when they got rid of putting vanilla in hot chocolates)

Iced brew tea lattes

Why would we water down the matcha lemonade lol?
