Customers randomly spawning (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by kai03X
I really cannot wrap my head around the fact that my store could be silent and peaceful for…let’s say 10-15 minutes. Then all of a sudden a huge flood of customers and mobile orders simultaneously come through out of nowhere. Idk if it happens for you guys too, but It’s like a mfn zombie video game where it’s like wave 1, wave 2, etc. The work stations would be all clean and spotless, then us rushing to get the orders done and over with would turn it into a pigsty. I work both day and night so it doesn’t really matter what the time is. Honestly, I’m just wondering how tf are these customers coming in all at the same time?

No I agree it's exactly like a zombie game and they act the same way

The first few customers set the vibe for all the others I agree

Honestly my store is never quiet and peaceful for even 10 minutes after we open so….. can’t really relate on that… but yeah it’s a total shit show. There’s never enough time, staff, or patience anymore.

You get the occasional Fetch Me Their Souls! Bitch

I always joke that the customers must have a huge group chat where they all decide to come at once 😅

a customer once told us that there’s a secret facebook group where customers talk about our store. we were shocked like what the hell who does that

No joke I’m onboard this conspiracy theory fr

same at our store! I kinda get it on weekdays, people come before and after work/school and on their lunch break (though we also get weird random mid-morning and late-afternoon rushes throughout the day), but it’s also the same on weekends for some reason 🤔

I think it’s mostly people who have their lunch breaks or shifts starting around the time they all come in. It’s always 7-8am hella ppl come because they gotta get to work at 9. Same with the hella ppl who come at 5:30-6:30am they gotta get to work at 7am. After 10 it gets a little slower till people in the nearby area (say shopping center employees) need to grab lunch. Happens anywhere in waves from around 12-3pm. All times people working 7am, 8am, 9am shifts would have to go to lunch at.

It does feel very video game-like and it always feel like they come *right* when you’re gonna go for a break

i swear with our store, it’ll be calm for roughly about 20-30 min when we open as there being pretty little customers rolling through, and it could just be because of us being understaffed, but after that 20 min the end is farther than the eye can see tbh lmfao. we’ll be slammed up until about an 1-1:30hrs before i leave, which is absolutely wild to me

I'm not certain anyone understands it, but this phenomenon is widely recognized across all of retail and food service.

And no, I have no idea way. In my head canon there is a FB or Twitter account out there coordinating it, but that's only imagination. In reality...I have no idea.

Told my coworker the other day that this job is how I know we live in a simulation because no way I spend 6-9 am every morning consistently making 3+ drinks at one time when our Starbucks is not even in a popular area. Like that many people are coming in on a Wednesday morning to get coffee???? Here?????
sydbdrappin 1 points 7m ago
Yes! this always seems to happen with cold bar drinks too. You'll have no frapps then 2 seconds later 15. Not only do they want Starbucks at the same time, but they also want the same Starbucks drink at the same time.

Literally today. We had about 100+ orders in the span of 30 minutes ina Saturday like at 11am.
