What are ya thoughts on beverages like this ? i understand it’s for more cold foam but what about the charges? my boss is super against it because people do doppio espresso in a grande ice cup with white mocha & extra milk and expect it filled to the top , like a white mocha latte ! (i.redd.it)

That drink is very straightforward, I have no problem with it. Shots, syrup, ice, foam. You blend 100 ml of sweet cream just like always and pour it all in.

right right. i agree, now what if it’s like a grande medicine ball through mobile, but they want it in a venti cup and expect for us to fill it up, he’s been big on the whole buy one size and ask for it to be put in a bigger cup

Well yeah, you can’t do that. I’d put it in a venti cup with room and if he complains, offer to do an exchange for a venti size at the register, and when he doesn’t want to do that, say that he can keep the drink in the size that he bought.

I’ve been a manager for a long time and customers like this are really annoying, however, just say yes. It’s not worth your time and energy and believe me if we get called to be involved, or even worse the DM gets involved, we’re just going to hold you accountable for not making the moment right. It’s not fair. I just remind myself that Starbucks makes a ridiculous amount of money off of these crazy drinks so they can afford the extra foam/water.

I just fill it with ice, kindof shimmy it so the ice goes down and settles, then more ice, then foam. I work in a store where it’s inside only so I’ll ask but every time they’ve just wanted more ice. That or they bought the oat milk we were out of from the store I’m inside of and made a diy latte in the cafe but that’s only happened twice💀😂

For most drinks other than iced espresso, you should pretty much just be making them in the correct size cup and then pouring it into the size cup they want.

Some people (like myself, my bf and some of my coworkers) all don’t like milky drinks therefore don’t like lattes but we enjoy shots of espresso with a little bit of milk or/and cold foam

You should care because we are allotted labor hours based on the drinks we sell. Certain drinks earn us more labor. Lattes earn us more labor than a couple shots with foam on top, even if the amount of actual work is the same between the two. So when you're on the floor, working your ass off and wondering why you have to multitask between three different tasks at any given time and wondering why there aren't more baristas on the floor working alongside you... that would be part of the reason why. These "latte for cheaper!" hacks. If you care about your fellow baristas getting enough hours to survive, you should always say, "No, but I can ring you in for an iced latte!" when they ask for milk to the top.

That is a good point, and I didn’t think of it that way. That being said, I would never go out of my way to suggest they do the “hack” way, but if the app allows them to order it that way AND they actually only want the allotted “creamer amount” of milk, I’m not going to say they can’t. If they want more milk than that, they can get a latte, yes.

Honestly, after 4.5 years at the Bux I don’t really care anymore. Just pump syrup/sauce, queue shots, fill up with ice as much as you can, and foam to the top. It beats having to make more foam once they get there and ask you to fill it to the top. Also, it’s not a latte as there is no milk.

I don’t like room in the cup, so unless *specifically stated* for an iced drink, I’ll always add more ice to fill the drink. However I’m always happy to remove any ice if a customer wants less ice, I’ve just found at my store most people enjoy the ice melting and the flavor the cold foam makes directly with the syrup and espresso 🤷🏻‍♀️

wanting it filled to the top with milk is against standard and ruins it for the many customers who order it for the standard splash of milk, but other than that it’s no problem to me. it’s on the menu 🤷‍♀️ but if the customer is pestering you to make it like a latte, they need to order a latte!

This is almost my go to drink, and if you do a venti scoop of ice and the proper CF amount it typically goes pretty close to the top. I am not into milk but like the foam, so I don’t mind if there’s room/ extra ice to water down the espresso.

Put sweet cream to 100 and fil as much as you can that’s what I do. As with the extra milk like a latte thing I add the shots and syrup and fill the WHOLEEE cup up with ice and pour milk in after to give the illusion its extra milk

I don't think there is anything wrong with a drink like this as long as you stick to standard measurements. Standard cold foam measurement is 100 ml. If there is still room, oh well, they got exactly what they payed for. For the ones trying to get a latte out of it, if the milk doesn't reach the top line just add xtra ice and if there's still room, oh well, they got exactly what they ordered. I personally order my drink like this because I don't want all the milk that a regular ice latte has.

But it is annoying those who try to take advantage of it. We have a lady at our store who asks for her venti frapp in a trenta cup. And she isn't afraid to make you redo it.

standard scoop of ice only calls for a tall scoop unless specified, regardless of the cup size they choose. but we all know how that goes. if you do that, and get yelled at by the customer, we are required to “make the moment right”. i’m done fighting at this point.

I make the drink exactly to standard. The milk won't fill to the top , if they want more milk they can pay for a latte . We are not allowed to just construct drinks from the ingredients. Imagine if everyone ordered iced waters w add strawberry base. Then everyone's getting $0.70 refreshers. We can't do it

Leave the room. I would just do regular foam and honestly I would always size up doing that anyways. Since this is just an espresso with 8 pumps (um, gross!) I would suspect it would fit in a grande cup, but maybe they have anxiety

So long as a SL or SM isn’t breathing down my back I’m just gonna make the drink however the customer wants. I don’t think it’s worth them complaining and having to hear a lecture about “customer connections”, plus Starbucks can more than afford the loss
