it’s so frustrating to be stuck in the same position for an entire shift (self.starbucksbaristas)

as the title says, on weekends i’m usually scheduled for morning shifts and it’s usually the same ssv every week. there is a specific one that isn’t very supportive and accommodating. first time working with her she asked me where i’d like to be, and i said i don’t mind i just don’t wanna be stuck in the same position for my whole shift yk. she said she understood and told me to go on cold bar while restocking until peak. once peak started she moved me to front and guess what i was stuck there for my whole shift, 4 hours. the next week she had me start on front again and i didn’t say anything assuming when i go on break and come back she’d move me, but she told me to go back to where i was. i said sure in a very non confident voice so she sighed and asked me where i wanted to go, so i told her i’d like to go on hot bar. i’m sure the only reason she put me there was cuz her shift was almost over either way. i am a newer barista but i’ve been working for a couple of months alrdy. i started at the same time as a couple of other people and they regularly get put on bar everyday. i’m very efficient and fast on bar. and even other ssvs tell me all the time how great i’m doing especially for being here for a short amount of time. usually other ssvs put me on solo bar throughout the day cuz they know i can handle it, but it’s only this specific ssv. she has never seen me work bar since she’s always leading and has never placed me on bar. yesterday i had another 4 hour shift and i was on front for the full 4 hours. my manager was there so i didn’t wanna complain or anything but this ssv makes me dread going to work on the weekends. especially since those r my longer shifts, usually 6-8 hours and i’m always either on front or drive. it’s just so frustrating and idk how to approach the situation since i’ve already told her that i don’t like being stuck on the same position for the entirety of my shift. i don’t wanna bring up to the manager either because i don’t want to seem picky even though i’m new and i don’t want to have any bar interactions with that ssv. sry for the long post lol just felt like ranting cuz it’s so frustrating

stand your ground. weekends can be stressful for everyone involved so it's possible your ssv just wants to place you somewhere and continue on with their tasks. if you want to be in a certain spot, say it. if your manager is there, complain about it to them. don't just take it and suffer. be confident in yourself and tell them where you want to be placed instead of just saying you'll go wherever

i will be juggling front and warming for 8 hours. i’m there every shift. I keep forgetting how to make drinks momentarily because i’m not in any grove on bar.

That sucks, I would just confidently ask if you can bar, if they want you somewhere else, ask if you can have some bar time after peek. your ssv should be moving everyone around a bit after a few hours ://
