I requested off a day because I have an event for school that I need to go to. I requested off and put my reason as school and it got denied. I know that it isn’t mandatory for me to get it off but it feels a little weird and annoying because I wasn’t scheduled all week and only requested one other day off for school also…

Check your state labour laws, they may be obligated to give you that day off as you are a minor and are subject to stricter requirements.
Also discuss it with your SM. They likely won't want to mess around with labour law stuff and they should respect that this is a school thing.
