one of our regulars threw his water bottle at me on my way to work this morning(self.starbucksbaristas)

i was in a rush bc i woke up super late and as i’m scootering there he appears out of nowhere. he runs towards my scooter and then throws his metal water bottle at me and starts screaming “you fucking bitch, you’re a dumb fucking bitch”. like come on man whatever happened to all the venti ice waters i’ve given you i thought we were good💔

Were you clocked in? Did this person assault you? Yes. Are they a regular? Tell your manager about this and file an incident report. Do not let this slide.

i hadnt clocked in yet this actually happened in my neighborhood as i was heading out. his water bottle did hit me and he was screaming at me so idk if that counts or not. he comes in for venti ice waters everytime i work afternoons, but since this didn’t happen while i was on the clock i didn’t tell my manager about it and i’m unsure if i should

I would tell them a regular assaulted you while off the clock. This person will come to your store and interact with you and I'll guarantee you will have different feelings about the customer when they come in. Making you feel unsafe in your place of employment.
That is not okay.

i let my manager know and they’re helping with the situation, thanks for the insight!! this has never happened to me before so i didn’t really know what to do lmao
hauxbi113 points7m ago
you ABSOLUTELY should, this didn’t happen while you were clocked in but he targeted you because he knows you from work. that’s a safety concern next time he decides to come to the store and you’re working, you don’t know what he’s going to do next. at the very least, your manager should keep an eye out for this guy and see what his behaviour is inside of the store for your safety.

Oh hell ass, it’s police and jail time.

if you report it (and i believe you should because even if this slides, they could do this to someone else and it’s better to have the paper trail started now), but you can call your non-emergency line to submit a police report as well as under the Incident Reporting app on the iPad to submit a report internally. You manager will get notified as well so I’d shoot them a text if you don’t see them in person before you do

My previous DM made it very clear that incidents on your way in and out of the store for work should be reported. Even if it doesn't "count" for say, workers comp, it's beneficial to know about to support you and hold the patron accountable.

did he mention what he was so mad about???
purplevinyl19 [OP]37 points7m ago
nope he was just screaming about how i am a dumb bitch so idrk
the only thing i said to maybe provoke him was that i couldn’t stop because i had to get to work
HelenAngel14 points7m ago
You did absolutely nothing to provoke him. This guy is not just unhinged but also dangerous. It is possible he has been radicalized into incel ideology. He may feel that he is entitled to you & unfortunately the fact that he has already gotten violent with you may mean that he’s gearing up to sexually assault you. Get some mace or bear spray, or even just cheap perfume so you can spray him next time he gets near you.
Longjumping_Stick_562 points7m ago
that’s 100% what i was thinking
Liberalmuffin1 points7m ago
maybe he’s also mentally ill??
Voxxyvoo5 points7m ago
still assault,\]. its an explanation but not an excuse.

I’m so sorry this happened to you but I can’t lie I had to double check what sub I was on because this 100% sounds like a skit on Impractical Jokers. I hope your day goes better!!
pinkshadedgirafe10 points7m ago
I've watched the Jokers for years, and assaulting someone with a metal bottle doesn't sound like something they would do
