how do i let my manager know i tested positive for the flu ? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by anonymous6248
i had to call out of work today because i was feeling very ill so i decided to visit the doctor and tested positive for the flu. my sm is not on the clock anymore and neither is my asm, so should i wait until tomorrow to call or let my sm know now ?

regardless of them being on the clock or not, they need to know asap. they aren’t hourly paid, they are salaried, so they are expected to have to do some things “off the clock” if needed.

that makes sense. i called my sm but they didn’t respond so i sent them a message

They are hourly employees actually. Just call the store and tell the shift on duty

I’d go ahead and let your SM know. This seems to be a point of contention but it is their job to find coverage in these cases. This isn’t a casual “i don’t feel too good”, you cannot work with the flu as it goes against the COVID/illness check we have to sign each shift.
