Donating closing food to food bank? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Dannidalion
Hey! I've officially been working at Starbucks for a couple of months and love doing closing shifts… I have a big family but sometimes there's way too much food for us to eat that's been left over, am I allowed to donate them to my local food bank? There was a time in my life when I needed the food bank so anytime I get the option to, I like donating

Context: I'd only be donating unopened, packaged items of course

at my starbucks we always donate the food that’s left over at the end of the day, so i don’t think your store would be against it. maybe ask your SM tho

Our store has orange donation bags we put the food in and leave in the fridge. Every couple days I'll take the bags and run them to a nearby Ronald McDonald House. Few other stores in my area have a service that picks up donations every other day and distributes it.

From what I’ve heard it would need to become a partnership between corporate and whichever food bank you are donating too. I think they have different bags you are supposed to drop the food off in as well. Talk to your SM for sure though bc it probably varies by state!
