Cut hours (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by miniinovaa
Anyone get insane hour cuts on the newest schedule?
bazzyzazzy 78 points 7m ago
Sat in on a manager meeting. They’re cutting labor across the board.
miniinovaa [OP] 89 points 7m ago
I bet in like 2 weeks they’re gunna be on our ass about connection scores lol
vegan-trash 34 points 7m ago
No seriously. We aren’t given staff. I asked my manager what to do if customers are waiting 20,30,40 minutes because we are swamped on mobiles and DT and he said that it’s just how it is sometimes and to power through. Customer connection goes down, they ask how we can raise it. Huh
flamingavocados 25 points 7m ago
Theyre getting on us about drive times. Now that the weather is dipping they’re sending ppl outside with iPads 🙄
miniinovaa [OP] 7 points 7m ago
That’s actually disgusting
KittxnKiss 1 points 7m ago
we can take orders on ipads now!? 😱
miniinovaa [OP] 51 points 7m ago
Also it’s not like the holidays aren’t the busiest time of the year. The logic is nonexistent
jaidecooper03 16 points 7m ago
yes my managers goal was to cut 10 hrs off so they’re making it happen somewhere
vixenfae 47 points 7m ago
Yes!! I gradually went from 27h to 17h even after I opened up an additional hour of availability. And I've been a partner for over a year.
miniinovaa [OP] 14 points 7m ago
Mine wasn’t even gradual lol
M1ntedrose 39 points 7m ago
Cut me from 25 to 15 with no warning. They're about to get some strong words from me because I have bills to pay and I can't afford to work somewhere that will do that to me
miniinovaa [OP] 18 points 7m ago
Literally my manager told about it in a group message and she got an earful from most everyone. Like she said it’s not her fault and I believe her but like that doesn’t change anything
Venus_Fox18 25 points 7m ago
Yes. I went from 28 to 9.75 hours a week with this newest schedule. I had 28 this week, then next week is 12, the week after that, I asked for the morning off so I could go to an appointment and got the whole day so I have 9.75 hours that week
sanjiless 19 points 7m ago
i’m not too worried about having my hours cut, thankfully, but i’m a bit annoyed at the fact that i still work 4 days a week with all of them being 4-5 hour shifts. like, just cut my hours but give me less days?? i don’t wanna come in every other day and then the entire weekend for 4 hours girl… i’d rather make my time worth it by being there the entire day rather than for part of it
Any_Target5307 11 points 7m ago
My store refuses to do this for me because they don’t want to give us lunches and it’s so annoying. I literally only get 12hrs a week so why can’t I just get 2 6 hr shifts??
mylegalusername 15 points 7m ago
Same as what someone else was saying. They’re trying to cut labor across the board throughout the U.S. just because there’s a few times when too many midday people are standing around.

They haven’t even tried to address waste or ordering issues. Meanwhile, we have “record profits” quarter-to-quarter.

They view labor as a “controllable” but reducing it only means more burnout and worse experiences for the customer. They’re probably trying to slowly kick out all the seasoned partners because they’re the ones who are most likely to unionize. New people also mean lower wages.
ShannyES 6 points 7m ago
This. But what they fail to realize is they’re wasting resources training new partners CONSTANTLY by driving away their current resources. Because let’s be real. WE are the siren’s most valuable resource.
Jesslynnlove 15 points 7m ago
i always wholly recommend to managers to have fewer baristas and longer shifts. It just works better if you have a skilled and commited team, theres less gaps, more evenly distributed hours and the floor stays consistent both in skill and in coverage.
Perfect-Leadership58 15 points 7m ago
i have 13 hours for the newest one, i usually get 20+ //: what’s the point of having such great benefits if we can’t even get enough hours to qualify
chainsofgold 10 points 7m ago
25 to 11 🥲 i only started in september so im a lil worried lol. and i basically have open availability
CharmingCut7104 1 points 7m ago
I feel that. I started in August and I have wide open availability. I got 25 hours this week. Next week I have 16 hours and week after that I have 15.5 hours. I noticed though one partner of ours has literally twice the hours of everyone else which has kind of bothered me.
fireflywaltz 9 points 7m ago
From a solid 34-38 a week to 28. Guaranteed 'at least 30' by my manager so yeah...not the worst, but not a happy camper. Shift meeting recently was all about 'making moments right for our team' and supporting the team and I'm like...how, by ensuring we struggle to pay bills and afford Christmas presents for our family? Getting to be very over it
miniinovaa [OP] 3 points 7m ago
I went from 30-38 to 22 😭😭😭
eri-kin 8 points 7m ago
I had 19 hours last week and for the next two weeks, I only have 12 hours for each week. 😭😭 Is this just common for the holidays?
Perfect-Leadership58 10 points 7m ago
usually everyone gets more hours around the holidays
OverallBat0 6 points 7m ago
40 to 20 with no notice.
rusted17 6 points 7m ago
Went from 29-28 to 21. I’m pissed
Any_Target5307 5 points 7m ago
I’ve been getting 12 a week consistently for at least 2 months now. No I can’t fucking afford anything. Literal poverty wages
janlovebot 1 points 7m ago
Same here, 8 hours a week is so frustrating
Misty6612 5 points 7m ago
Yeah, we had an emergency meeting yesterday about cutting 10 hours across the board from the newest schedule and now we need to schedule 8 hours under forecasted for each day. It’s gonna be rough but hopeful that it gets better soon:/

Time to unionize
clouds183 5 points 7m ago
27-28 consistently weekly. then 17.
Ceramicusedbook 5 points 7m ago
I went from 18 to 12. I'm sitting stagnant at 12.
ShannyES 4 points 7m ago
This is a cyclical thing with the siren. (4yr partner) but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it happen at the tail end of the calendar year. Normally it’s last winter early spring we get hours slashed. This is unusually Scrooge like from the Bux.
WorthProper3289 4 points 7m ago
Not just the hourly week cuts but anyone else experiencing super understaffed weekend shifts? Like it’s one thing to have only 3 ppl on a shift for a Tuesday. But we went from 12 man plays on a Saturday to 4/5 man plays🥲. AND I swear they are messing with our pos system so we can’t mark stuff out to stop mobile orders. Magically every weekend it doesn’t allow us to mark out stuff like frapp bases, refresher bases, mocha sauce

Time to unionize
miniinovaa [OP] 2 points 7m ago
I wish. My store would never be on board
Hazel_is_Trans 2 points 7m ago
You can’t be fired for talking about it but get in contact with swu and they help you you can send messages to everyone though text use the number in back leave out sv and sm
miniinovaa [OP] 2 points 7m ago
Nah my store gossips and I actually do like my manager but she’d quit because she’s have to side with Starbucks during the process I guess and she doesn’t wanna do that

Edit: wrong word
vegan-trash 4 points 7m ago
My manager said it’s because they pay us more now, so they don’t want us to work as much
samren33 8 points 7m ago
bruh we literally make like minimum wage this is so stupid
desperatenuff 1 points 7m ago
i think the person is referring to the cc tips
samren33 1 points 7m ago
even if they were, tips don’t count as us being paid more since they don’t come from the company :/ just unfortunate that our labor is being cut when we’re already always so understaffed
mossygreentree13 4 points 7m ago
went from getting 30 consistently to working two days a week- 12 hours total lol
GhostfaceJK 4 points 7m ago
went from 25-30 to under 20… but i talked w my SM and she said she’ll give me more hours. i trust her so i hope my schedules will be ok in the future
cmgriff1999 3 points 7m ago
I don’t work a ton of hours to begin with as Starbucks for me is a second job. But that has been my biggest grievance with this company. The lack of consistency of scheduling. Never working the same days week to week. Shift start and ending times always varying +/- 3 hours. It always makes it super difficult to schedule my other job and other commitments. Some weeks I have close to 20 hours, some I have 8.. and it’s just incredibly frustrating.

Time to unionize
lillyloveswriting 3 points 7m ago
Worked at another store this past weekend and the partners are only getting 5 hours a week.
mimitalu 3 points 7m ago
Yes, I had 3 shifts this week and put one up to be claimed. Checked back to double check when I was working since I wasn't able to get anyone to cover and it was gone. Noticed all the other shifts that were up to be claimed were gone too. It's wild because coverage has already been so sparse since we switched to holiday hours
TinyPineapples0125 3 points 7m ago
40 to 25 with no heads up 🙃
nananananateman 3 points 7m ago
Nope, my manager keeps calling me on days I have off (I only work 3-4 days a week anyways) and asking me to pinch hit cuz they got slammed unexpectedly
Successful-Regret-76 3 points 7m ago
Went from 30 to 10 :/
miniinovaa [OP] 2 points 7m ago
Yo wtf????
ihavemanyanimals 3 points 7m ago
Im a new partner and durong training i was getting like 20 hours but now that im actually working im down to 14
Jesslynnlove 1 points 7m ago
This is normal. Training is set 20 hour weeks.
No_Word2668 2 points 7m ago
thats why i left sbux, i was a full time barista then got cut to 6 hours a week out of no where and they threatened to fire me when i asked why. 0 explanation or reasoning.
plimith 2 points 7m ago
Went from 27- 21 hours a week, I don't have an emergency fund anymore it all goes to bills and food
Lanky-Strawberry5710 2 points 7m ago
This makes me nervous. I just started to get the benefits and to return to school.
PastaWithJamSauce 2 points 7m ago
22-25 a week down to 15 .. yikes
Euphoric_Ad1240 2 points 7m ago
Yup I went from 35 to 20…
extrashotextrahot 2 points 7m ago
25 to 14
cocoabutterkissez 2 points 7m ago
26 to 14
janlovebot 1 points 7m ago
I’m went from finally getting 12 hours to now getting 8 hours again, it isn’t a huge cut because I can’t work after school so I’m not shocked but it’s still a cut
Fentydior 1 points 7m ago
I went from 21 to 15
bjtr091601 1 points 7m ago
my hours haven’t been cut that much but i also think they just got cut slightly because of my availability changing. i’m so sure she’d have me scheduled the same if i was available since we don’t have enough closers throughout the week at my store.
