dunkin vs starbucks (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Katzz123
Hi I'm currently a dunkin employee and I'm considering on switching to Starbucks in a few weeks. Do you think starbucks will be easy for me to transition over to?

I'm used to working during rushes and standing all day for 8 hours with no breaks. I've only been at dunkin since June. The only thing I have issues is with the customizable drinks in Starbucks and how long it takes me to memorize the menu.

go for it it’s easy if you set your mind to it honestly !
this may be a long response but
i was an assistant manager for dunkin worked there 5 years started as barista, to shift leader to A.M i’ve also done no breaks during shifts, 10-11 hour days sometimes 6-7 days working checks were amazinggg but ever since the switch to starbucks i’ve been feeling a lot happier working a lottt less and still getting paid the same is such a bonus plus breaks. you have to want to excel in starbucks , training is about 2 weeks i had strictly 2 weeks to learn everything including being a shift (our store was brand new inside a college, been a year now since workin there) and i was confused for a bit , stressed too learning how to Beverage Sequence. But after about 3-4 weeks altogether i started doing great with memorization , just have to accept you’re gonna fail a few times before you can succeed! go in there open minded. PLUS the training is very thorough so make sure whichever store it is you decide to go to , they have great leader (or leaders) ask a LOTT of questions! plus the 15min/30min breaks are heavenly it’s always nice to get away especially if it’s right after a huge rush

hi im a former dunkin employee who now works at starbucks and if the dunkin u work at was anything like the one i used to work at make the switch ! i fucking HATED working at dunkin but working at starbucks is a solid B-. like any new job it took me a while to get everything down but i think working at dunkin gives u the skills to move forward a lil faster. with time u will get better. good luck !

I switched four years ago and it was a pretty easy switch for me! I think you’ll be okay

Do you think starbucks has a better work schedule than dunkin? Thats one of the biggest reasons why I'm considering on switching.

depending on the store and their hours, i’ve had baristas part time working 2-3 days but full timers working 5 days, my store pushes for 2 days off but still you’re pulling in about 34-38 hours and if you’re getting paid a bit more at the starbucks compared to dunkin , you should be pretty good. put a boundary on your schedule if needed!

Idk tbh! I was like 17 at dunkin so limited availability. I get 30 hours at starbucks per week

as someone who started at dunkin and switched to starbucks: it will definitely be a rough transition at first (actually maybe not that hard bc dunkin has copied like all starbs drinks since i left there 6 yrs ago and they basically just had coffee and tea before😭) but i promise its so much better
