Ive been working at Starbucks part time since September and I've run into a few things I don't know. Also my store is even more understaffed than most so no one really has time to help much (14 soon to be 13 employed at my store)
1: how the heck do I make tea lattes? Hot and iced
2: am I allowed to give someone a food item in a package if it isn't warmed up? (like a snowman cookie or lemon loaf?)
3: am I making pour-overs wrong or is another thing broken in my store? I was taught to grind on a paper filter setting and then 2/3/4 scoops of ground coffee and water up to the correct line. But recently I have to double filter it or else I'll get grounds in the coffee
4: how do you clean the steamer wands for closing?
5: what is the punishment for calling off and not being able to find a replacement? I'm might be scheduled for Christmas Eve even though I've requested time off and my family celebrates that day.

1. Except for green tea lattes, tea lattes get half water half milk. Use the same number of tea bags that you would do shots of espresso for that size latte. London fogs use earl grey tea and vanilla syrup. English breakfast and any other tea latte uses liquid cane sugar. Iced tea lattes don't get water, they get ice instead, chai included. If someone orders, day, an iced London fog, it takes 5 minutes to steep tea (use an extra tea bag and half the water), then pour that with the vanilla and cold milk. Top with ice.
2. No, not unless that's what they specifically request. Put it in a bag.
3. That's correct, are you pouring water in too fast to lift the grounds over the filter? Or was there a hole in one?
4. With the mastrena IIs, just wipe them down.
5. If you're not sick and don't find coverage for your shift, you are likely to get a corrective action. You are fireable if you have 3 in a shortish time frame.

The only other possible reason I could see the grinds not being right for the pour over aside from what you said is because the grinder isn’t being cleaned during clean play

For #4 I actually recommend running them through the dish washer! Just do it when you break down the bar.

If you’re ever stuck on a shift not knowing how to make things, go to the iPad’s and click on the “resources” app. It tells you things like how to make all kinds of drinks and the shelf life of products

For #2, we aren't supposed to give out items in the the packaging since they don't contain a list of ingredients, it's an FDA regulation. We usually do when people ask.

For pour overs it’s 3/4/5 for T/G/V it’s the same as the syrup standard
