I am immunocompromised and i get sick a lot. Most of the time I work through it, but I have unfortunately picked up multiple strains of Covid this year. My oncologist tells me it’s because the covid strains constantly change so if you have (for example) Covid A once, then Covid B comes around, you’re not immune to Covid B just from having Covid a. I don’t understand the science but once again i have caught the new variant. Everyone at my store knows I have cancer but my SM is always angry if I am sick. should I just quit or is Covid again a valid reason for not being here
(Ps, starbucks knows I’m sick as I have cancer and accomodations. I work really hard and am there most of the time!)

omg you literally have cancer friend!!!! and covid. You’re not allowed to work if you have Covid even if you get every single strain and that is not your fault. I’m sorry your sm isn’t nice about it but really it’s not your fault. Feel better babes

I don’t believe so. I think it just means you can’t get paid for that shift because you don’t have sick time (unless you use your vacation hours).

I'm so sorry you are not being met with the compassion you deserve. You are amazing for pushing through and obviously are dedicated to your job. Your SM is being heartless, honestly 😕

Intermittent FMLA. Must be employed for one year and have worked at least 1250 hours in last 12 months. Can't be fired for being sick if you have FMLA on file.
