the rushes are definitely stressful when you’re new. especially if you’re in the cafe because then you just have an audience of customers watching you. avoid eye contact unless you want someone to look at you like youve deeply offended them by not calling out their names.
coworkers will depend on where you work so hopefully you get some nice ones !
honestly other than the rush, it’s not that bad. lots of routines that keep you feeling steady and stable. training will probably be the toughest because of the info dump and then the first few months too while you’re getting used to everything. but if you’ve got good coworkers who are generally hard workers you should be fine !

it depends so much on where you work and how busy your store is. my store averages 40-50k/week (although our sales are rapidly growing due to new management) in a rural area so most of our traffic is drive though.
a lot of people hate working drive through a because of the focus on drive times, but if you’ve worked at another drive through you’ll likely understand that.
other than that, i can say that it is quite intense, but i wouldn’t say it’s much worse than any other fast food job- just with sometimes far less people than you need because starbucks is generally very lean on scheduling.
i love being a barista though! and i think if you like the impact and connection you get that just isn’t quite like other fast food, you’ll do fine (especially if 15$/hr is a pay raise for you)

Yeah, my main concern was mainly how busy they can get and learning how to make multiple complicated drinks at once. However, $15/hr would almost definitely be worth it

if it helps any everyone struggles and everyone struggle HARD for a few months, at some point it kinda clicks. most of the drinks are standard builds though, so they get the same number of shots or pumps or etcetera.
another thing that matters a lot is the team you work with. i’m lucky i work with mostly amazing people and we support each other but not all stores are like that unfortunately.
id say give it a shot though!! it’s not like turnover is the end of the world for whatever store anyway so if you don’t like it i’d just find somewhere else.

it’s very very fast paced and chaotic at times, the people you work with really make your shift so make sure you’re going in to a store with a solid team that has little to NO drama
