Closing Tasks (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Noriebug
So I was wondering if there was an official list of tasks we need to get done at close and during clean play. If so, where would I find it? I'm planning on asking my SM to become a crew trainer within the next month, and I was wanting to know my stiff before doing anything.

There is a clean play tab in the DRB. The first page lists everything and the following pages are like a weekly checklist. I usually have whoever completed a task write in their initials and then I’ll leave some final comments at the bottom. I didn’t know how to clean the nitro machine so I used the store resources app to find the video on how to do it. There are also the CSR cards. One of them has a list of closing tasks.

What is the store resource app called?

My store resources. It looks like a file folder. You can use the search feature within the app to find just about anything you need!

There’s clean play in the big book (DRB) and the closing tasks for team on the CSR card. It tells you everything that has to be done

we have a handwritten (now typed up, no efficiency taken in account either, it’s all based on if it’s a slow, $800-1000 sale day.) slapped on the wall. Just think about what needs to be done, dumping, restock, cleaning, and set up so it can all be done in a timely manner, going from least used items to most used items. Wash stuff in rotation too. (Like half of the stuff at 6pm, then the stuff you were using in its place after the place is closed). I always close alone so it’s just autopilot for me now. I’m leaving and i don’t even realize and then i check and yup i’ve done everything. Ask ur manager if they could write a list for you and the crew you plan on training :3

tbh i just make my own every night like a to do list and check things off as i go

as for closing, id make your own list by asking shifts and baristas because it tends to vary store by store. i make a list every night and mark things as theyre done. cleanplay, theres a beautiful checklist in the back of the book. we date it, and colorcode what is and isnt done with highlighters and then explain why it wasnt done in the box below. we also put any additional non standard tasks (like if a particular shelf needed a good scrub or something) in that box. love the cleanplay setup

the task cards are really helpful for closing tasks as well. for my store i usually separate it by
-cold bar
-bar 1 (hoppers, machine, under and sink)
-bar 2 (hoppers, machine, under and sink)
-ovens L R
- floors swept, mopped (cafe, bathrooms, counter)
-bathrooms clean
-restock (ice, lids, cups, milk)
-syrups including pumps
-backups
this is in no particular order bc that’s really store dependent. its mostly just for my brain to cross things off. then as a shift ill include tills and tips in this list and do a separate break list
