Need help calming my anxiety (self.starbucksbaristas)

I woke up with severe migraine and throwing up… I had be at work at 5am but I woke up at 4am to get ready and start throwing up. I started calling soon as I finish throwing up (4:20am cause sometimes we have someone there at early) I keep calling until someone picked up (between puking) I finally got ahold of someone at 4:53 I feel so bad for calling out but from 4am till I got ahold of someone I had thrown up 5 times…

Make sure you’re not eating anything 30 min or even an hour before you go to bed. Full undigested stomach + sleep + anxiety = vomit central. there’s not much you can do if you’re throwing up before you go to work, it’s good you were calling them. For me just putting on music and zoning out doing a task i like really helps calm me down. Coloring, drawing, switch games, mobile phone games (i recommend a calm one like I Love Hue Too) , just anything to help distract from the current moment which is anxiety. Feelings can be so fleeting if you let them. Also a hot bath(or shower) helps a lot too. (If you’re about to breakdown though try switching to cold! the temperature change causes a switch in your brain!) Putting ice cube on your wrist, grounding techniques like pointing out every first object you see in rainbow color order , or even just calling up a friend and letting stuff off my chest. Dms are open if you need anyone to talk to about anxiety :) i’ve had it chronically since i was a child so i know a thing or two about it, it does get easier<3

I just feel like I let them down by calling out. I had migraine for 3 days.. But I been pushing through work and everything. But today soon I woke up get ready my head was throbbing and I got super nauseous and didn’t even make it to bathroom throw up I end up throwing up in my trash can… I know I wouldn’t be ankle work today due I would have keep going bathroom to throw up cause since post threw up 2 more times. But I hate feeling like I upset or made someone mad…. But I always picking up shifts,coming in early, or staying late and I don’t call out often… but still worries me

if you’ve done everything you can for them, then you have nothing to worry about. If they get mad that is their business. At the end of the day it’s just work, they go home and try to brush it off too. Don’t ever feel bad for calling out if you genuinely feel awful, feeling well and healthy is a requirement for work. <3

I know it just I feel so bad for having call out expessally on Sunday. For last 3-4 weeks I have picked up tons shifts and only been having 1 day off a week. And this week alone I have came in early 3 times and stayed late 4. Thanksgiving I even stayed late. I always 5-10 mins early so I can get drink and if they need someone early.
