Schedule makes it hard to get sleep. (self.starbucksbaristas)

So I’ve been dealing with this issue with Starbucks for as long as I worked here. It seems impossible to get good quality sleep so I’m not so tired throughout the day because of how I’m scheduled. My store closes late (closes are out at 10pm). On a weekly bases I’ll have closing shifts and then I’m expected to be there the next morning at 7am. This often leads to me napping right after the morning shift and it takes 2-3 hours out of my day sometimes. I understand that there only needs to be 8 hours between shifts, but its not like I fall asleep as soon as I get home. I gotta eat, shower, and mentally prepare myself for bed. I don’t know what I’m trying to get at here, I guess i just wanted to rant a bit

you can always change your availability. i don’t know what your schedule is outside of work, but if you make yourself available only for closing, they can’t schedule you to come it at 7 am.

i second the person who says change your availability. that or if you still want to have those early shifts talk to your manager about not being scheduled early right after closing.

I’ve definitely tried already, the crappy part about it is that when I did change my availability I went from 35-37 hours per week down to 20-25. Like I got bills to pay. Idk I might do it though. It’s just a sacrifice I would have to take to keep me mentally sane lol
