in the US employers can still require employees to go to work despite severe weather. i don’t think starbucks has any exceptions. leave earlier than you normally would and drive slow and carefully.

Say you do not feel safe/comfortable going. That’s it. Has worked like a charm for me many times. Are they going to pay for your totalled car god forbid something happens? Or worse?

Sorry you didn’t hear what you wanted to hear op. I live in Chicago and I’ve gone in to work with 8+ inches of snow. It comes with living in the places we live. Just drive safe.

The only time you be able to say you can't come in and not get written up if local officials close the roads as they are unsafe to drive. Just because you don't have proper vehicle to travel in do not make it illegal to require you to show up for your shift.

just say you don’t feel comfortable, idk. i don’t drive at all so the snow last year made it really difficult for me to get to work (i had a different job that was farther away) and i still managed to get there. and i worked outside. i think you should be okay.
