We haven't had an espresso machine since last Wednesday(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by burntstarbuckscoffee
We have a super old machine that's over 10 years old, we don't even have blonde roast, and all the baristas knew it was going to break. So a part broke and the machine and the steaming wand are completely broken, our manager is refusing to get a new one, and we just straight up don't have an espresso machine. We've gone through thanksgiving and black Friday without one, now we're getting no business at all and my manager is cutting hour to only one person working in the kiosk a shift.

I’m like 99% sure that you cannot have only one single person on the clock/floor unless another person is on break. Maybe corporate has different rules for kiosks? I’d call partner resources, ethics, and the DM. Inform them how unsafe it is to have only one person working.
Regarding the broken machines, use the iPad and create a work order to have someone come out and fix it. It sounds like you have a horrible manager who is happy to let the store get shut down, which could very likely lead to multiple partners losing their only source of income. Go ahead and tell your DM and ethics and partner resources that too.

So I don't have a DM, or an ethics, just some lady in HR. We don't have an iPad either, it's just the grocery store's register that we have in our kiosk

From what I understand of Licensed stores such as yours is that this is a violation of Starbucks’ policy and should be reported to corporate. They can remove the kiosk from the store or fine/punish the store for breaking policy. Definitely report it, they might send someone to inspect to see if policy is being broken, and might get your manager to actually get a new espresso machine!
*my knowledge of licensed stores/kiosks are very limited though, please read up on it before taking my advice fullly

I technically don't work for Starbucks, I work in a Starbucks in a grocery store and I work for the grocery store

Go talk to the store director of the grocery store. Tell them all about what your manager is doing and they also will put in a work order. Sounds like they just want the least amount of business during the holidays, which i’m absolutely sure their boss will not like.

If you have access to Store Link, if you look up something along the lines of “Licensee Compliance” there should be a check list of things that we require immediate action. As a licensed store kiosk manager myself, I can assure you proper staffing and equipment maintenance are grounds for a “Notice of Action Required” and can either get your store shut down or your manager fired
