any insight on separation and being re-employed? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by baristaloonastan
This morning i was separated from sbux due to violations of the attendance policy. I’ve had mental health issues in the past which caused me to be late quiet often, and even though i’ve been working on those and doing significantly better, i got really sick and called out during my shift, leading to my separation.

now i fully understand WHY i was separated but do think it’s a bit stupid what other things people get away with and keep their jobs at the bux.

anyway, my question is, i was told i can be rehired, just not at my store because she won’t hire me for another year. is there a period of time i should wait to reapply at another location? i really did love my job and even though i have another one, as a previous 3 year partner (284) i wasn’t ready to end my journey.

if anyones been in a similar situation where they were separated and rehired, what was that process like? were managers hesitant because of your separation? and did you stay within your district or move out?

thank you in advanced.

I’m not sure if there’s any amount of time you have to wait before getting rehired. I briefly left the company in 2009 and was rehired four months later.

Be aware though, I think if you get rehired within 6 months (or possibly 1 year) they have to start you out at the same rate of pay you were at when you were separated. The manager who rehired me started me off at base pay, and about three years later I received an almost $4k check for all the pay I had been shorted. So when you get rehired, make sure they’re aware of how much you were making when you left.
