So if it’s over 4 oz we have to charge for dairy/alt milk in the drink, if someone asks for an americano with half of it as steamed milk is it then a latte? (self.starbucksbaristas)

In some coffee shops, including Starbucks in Canada, that’s called an americano misto. You can ring it in as an americano and hit the “add dairy” button on the register, which adds an upcharge for the milk, and also hit the steamed button.

still an americano, and charged for dairy.

we tell people all the time

there is a point to when toast becomes a sandwich and it's important to know when:
toast
with butter, still toast.
and with jelly, still toast.
AND peanut butter? now it's a sandwich and we have a different name and charge for it.
