i want to hear from other SSVs about this...(self.starbucksbaristas)

with the hour cuts due to "shift compliment " has anyone stepped down into barista role.. How has it been for you? Is it worth it? Because my household cant handle me working less than 35 hours, and i cant pick up a second job because i need "open availability ".

I ask my sm to borrow me out to a handful of stores around me. I pick up shifts when they are posted. This week I’m working at three different stores. Should I have to travel around to other stores to make sure I have 35+ hours? No, but is it difficult ? No. Lol, idc where I work as long as I’m getting paid my normal rate. (Which you always are so usually I’m doing a barista shifts while getting paid as a very tenured shift so I’m not very upset about that)

we aren't allowed to take regular coverage/barista shifts because of shift compliment in my district. i also feel like most SSVs are hurting for money in my area so SSV shifts are never available:(

Even at different locations? They can’t stop you from picking up shifts on market place whether it’s keyholder, coverage or non coverage.

though the app does allow it (you can basically cheat it) i dont think its worth me, my SM, or other SMs getting chewed out for having too many SSV on the floor. 🥲 Our district has really been hearing it about shift compliment lately.

I’ve been hearing horror stories about it from people outside my district but when I bring it up to my manger she just says that her shift compliment is in line and I haven’t seen a change in hours in the past few weeks shift compliment has been talked about. Even if it’s “cheating” the system, do what you gotta do.

i haven’t changed anything but i do know now with credit card tipping, my store is getting 4-5/hr and the barista wage would be very comparable to starting ssv wage. and even with the hours cut, cc tips will help my paychecks come out to a pretty similar amount with the new hours vs the 35+ i usually get. probably a little under but nothing detrimental. i’ve also noticed that the schedules that have come out since my sm announced the hour cuts have been more than the max amount she said we could have. our max was 24 and i got 28, so maybe there’s some wiggle room ? and i also was looking into getting a second part time job, outside of the hours i’m always scheduled but my manager put a halt to availability changes for the rest of the year and since i technically have open availability i can’t risk it. it’s all very stupid

My store is “over capacity” for the shift compliment, so after holiday one of us is getting transferred to another store who is under the compliment. But ive been looking for other jobs because money was already tight before my hours were cut and now im at risk of a transfer because my sm hired a new ssv right before the compliment? No thanks, no interest in being transferred around when ultimately it was never my decision to hire another ssv AND to tell ssv’s they can no longer be barista coverage without stepping down. Getting really close to walking away
