I dont understand how people in a position of authority can get mad at somebody for simply just being sick. It makes zero sense. U gave them a proper heads up. Sometimes when im at work and i feel a sore throat coming on, i warn my manager that day if im at work with her and then i tell her that ill keep her updated as the day goes on and twice this happened. And then i text her later that day and let her kno it got considerably worse and i cant be in for my shift the following day and she never once tells me to look for coverage and never does the guilt tripping thing.

These shifts and managers that get mad when one of us calls out makes no sense but when I try to piece it together, I'm starting to think that maybe they're not personally mad at the ones who are calling out sick but they're just mad for themselves because now they have to do the work of finding coverage but that's one of the reasons they get paid a higher amount than baristas. I hate that theres so many of us that are afraid to call out or call out but are afraid to get in trouble for simply being sick when u kno damn well they would not wana come to work when theyre sick....unless theyre dick bags and dont care about others getting sick

their anger could be redirected towards corporate for not allowing us an extra partner to allow for calloffs and for scheduling to where one partner being sick means chaos on the floor for the remaining partners.

1. Shifts can’t write you up
2. You followed policy correctly by going home when you felt ill (especially knowing that your hubby had the flu) *and* you gave plenty of notice for calling out on day 2
3. If for some reason you did get written up, contact ethics and compliance
4. People have been fired for coming in to work sick.

You did everything right. Get some rest and don’t worry about it.
