Coverage/firing question (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Easy_Cat_278
A little info: I lost two people that I was extremely close to within a year of each other and had a recent ADHD diagnosis. I would have asked for bereavement time but I don’t think I work enough hours. Also, I am a college student. I have been transparent w my sm about it. Because of everything that has happened recently, I have been getting sick fairly often and have called out/been minorly late more than I normally would have over the past 3ish months.

This is finals week for me and I have been trying to find coverage for my shifts this week. I couldn’t find coverage for the first one and accidentally slept through the first two hours of my shift but still came in.

I can’t work the next shift but can’t find coverage even though I have asked everyone who might be able to take it. Could my sm fire me if I can’t find coverage for my next shift but can’t come in?

You qualify for bereavement just by being employed.
